CSM writes: "Bookworm is a downloadable wordsearch puzzle game for the Nintendo DSi. Players need to look over a board of letter tiles and connect adjacent ones to spell out words. When those chosen tiles disappear, new ones fall in to take their places. As play goes on, special tiles come into play: bonus tiles that will multiply the number of points for a word, and fire tiles that must be used before they reach the bottom of the screen (or else the game will be lost). The titular worm, who stands at the side of the gameboard, often defines words the player has just spelled."
It’s been a few years since PopCap Games has released a new Bookworms title, but it looks like something new may be on the way for the word-forming computer puzzle game, according to new domain registrations by PopCap’s parent EA. On November 1, 2012, Electronic Arts registered several names like BookwormHeroes.com, BookwormHeroes.org, and even BookwormHeroes.co.uk.
Bookworm isn’t the most inviting of titles. Arguably, it could be one of the least appetising of game names ever released. However first impressions can be deceiving and word games do have a tendency to be fun and competitive. It’ll be interesting to find out whether Lex the bookworm can keep all of us engaged for longer than the usual word search in your local paper.
Pocket Gamer: PopCap has been on a bit of a Nintendo DS bender recently, bringing a number of its classic casual titles to the dual-screen handheld.
One of them is Bookworm, a game about making words from tiles, rather than an action title revolving around gobbling your way through books. Shame.
