Game mechanics and whatever other gripes I had aside, I really admire what they did with the story....in the beginning anyway. C'mon man, how many games do you see where the main character is an immigrant looking to pursue the American dream? I don't know how long you've been playing games, but as a guy who grew up playing games on the NES, I didn't think we'd ever have such real life type issues in games. If you did then you have better foresight than most. I guess what I'm saying is it felt good to see such a major release where the protagonist isn't a overly muscular stereotypical portrayal of the all American hero but rather a balding, average looking guy that speaks with an accent. That did nothing for you?

Is the media officially "unbiased", lol of course their not, everybody is at least a little bit biased, its human, however my point is that doesn't mean they are out to get sony, and its quite possible that just like sports announcers/referee's you may favor a particular team inside and still be professional enough to "call like you see it" when doing your job.

That said, UC2 is a great game, not my favorite this year but I can easily see how it deserves the award from so many sites and fans Naughty Dog has my respect.

Multiplayer trophies always piss me off. I always check the list of trophies first to see if platnuming the game is even possible. If there is a long list of multiplayer trophies, I forget about the platinum and just enjoy the game rather than burdening myself with many of the optional trophies.

So the 360 and PS3 had the exact same number of "good" titles in 2009.

You make it seem as though multiplatform titles cannot be played and enjoyed and are not counted as part of a console's library. They do make up 90% of a game's library. Then again, 90% of them are superior on the 360, so I can understand why you pretend they don't exist.

I love how all of you just ignore the facts pirategota pointed out. The 360 had more games released in 2009 than the PS3 and just as many good games. And that is the 360's worst year.

Also, reviews are just opinions and so are GOTY rewards. I think Uncharted 2 was a worthwhile contender this year and I think it deserved it (although there were a few other games I think would have deserved it too), but that doesn't mean that everyone has too agree. COD Modern Warfare 2 also won some GOTY rewards. I wonder what would have happened if it had won the majority of them. Would you guys have just accepted that it was the best game? Nah, I bet you guys would just be hating on it and changing your tune claiming that the media is biased.

While 4 360 exclusives (Forza 3, Halo Wars, Left 4 Dead 2, and Shadow Complex) won awards in IGN's overall GOTY. So apparently PS3 owners only have one game to play, while 360 owners are playing a multitude of games. That's how it appears from the awards.

Now, granted, Uncharted 2 won more awards than those four 360 exclusives combined, but it's still only 1 game. No other PS3 exclusive won an award in IGN's Overall GOTY awards.

Kill zone2- best fps graphics, 32 players online(more than any 3fix me shooter out). avg about a 9.1 (gamespot's shooter of the year)

Infamous- brand new ip and avg about an 8.8 with a great story and fun game play.

Uncharted2- best graphics so far, best gameplay and the best voice acting out there. GOTY avg a 9.7

Ratchet2- pixar like graphics no other platform looks this good

Demon souls- another ip that avg out a 9.0..with a deep and robust online.

Final fantasy(japan)- hey it sold millions on day 1..take that bots

U2 has now sold roughly 2.5 Mil in 2 months - very good! =D

but obviously other games (MW2) sold more.

U2 is still the best game this year.

Well deserved GOTY award. Its ashame that if it was a 360 title that won xbots would be celebrating as well without all the bashing. Now that a Sony exclusive got the award you hear a lot of BS and Smack Talk. Everyone hating on this Game needs to sit down and play it and stop the trash talk and you will see why it got the GOTY award. And just for the record that was the funniest video I had ever seen.

It was either this or Demon Souls. UC2 did everything right and set the bar higher for game development. It is not only a very enjoyable experience, but a masterpiece that promotes innovation and excellance in the games industry. We need more developers like Naughty Dog. I just hope people buy this game and give ND the payment they so well deserve. They have come along way since the original Crash Bandicoot. Here's hoping they go even further with UC3.

the game was virtually flawless. A masterpiece.
Amazing graphics, most fluid animations I've ever seen in a game, not to mention amazing gripping story, fresh gameplay, quality sounds and awesome soundtrack, great characters and kickass online multiplayer that's addictive.

this game has set the bar for quality.
it's has a Hollywood flavor without the corniness, a cinematic experience that movies will try hard to replicate, and characters that you actually CARE about.

you gotta love Naughty Dog.

Uncharted 2 is simply the best game out now in this current-gen era of gaming. I completed it about two or so months ago and all I could say was, "WHAT A GAME!". I thought he first Uncharted was brilliant, and I just could'nt see how much better Naughty Dog could make the next installment. But to my delightful surprise, U2 simply just made U1 a memory once I eventually completed it. Well deserved award!

Uncharted 2 HAD to be the game of year - what else could have competed with it? NOTHING!
