A.V. Club writes: "It's a testament to success of the NES-era Duck Hunt that 25 years later, games like Remington Great American Bird Hunt are still aping its simple formula. Bird Hunt consists namely of 12 hunting tournaments. At the start of each, you're mysteriously transported to a bland vista, ranging from tranquil ponds to open fields to Unabomber-style shacks. A bird will eventually fly across the vista, and when it does, the object is to point at the bird and pull the trigger on the Wii remote. After each kill, a faceless announcer says obvious things like "Great shot, buddy!" and 'You can't miss!'"
GameProps: Back when the Nintendo Entertainment System launched into millions of houses, two titles were at the forefront: some game about a jumping plumber or something, and the classic Duck Hunt.

But it really is, I assure you. The only thing that's missing is the pink screen where the ducks fly away. And the dog that makes fun of you when your aim sucks."
HG writes: "There's a bird soaring in the sky above you. It's hard to tell what kind it is from this distance; it's probably just another duck, but it could be an osprey, red-tailed hawk, or any of the other creatures protected by the hunting laws. You could take the trouble of fishing out your visor to get a better view, but it's not really worth it. It's only one bird, and there's no one around to care if it's illegal to kill. The only thing you need to worry about is the accuracy of your shot; wasting ammo is the mark of a poor hunter. Thanks to the WiiMote controls, however, handling a Remington rifle is as easy as working a television controller. All you've got to do is point the onscreen reticule in the right spot, pull the trigger button, and watch the bloodied feathers fly. A gunshot later, and your prey goes careening to the ground. It was just a duck, after all."
