Being a fan of Halo Wars, it's good to see it got some recognition, would have been better to see the full game up on the list though! :p

Edit: Shadowrun is 4th place on the GFWL charts, nice! How about the previously promised mod tools now Microsoft? Nope? Ok... :(

Looks like Halo 3 still takes the cake 2 years later.

Whether people wish to admit it or not, Bungie successfully made one hella good multiplayer component for Halo 3. Still #1 two years after release? And based on Unique Users too? Crazy. ~628,817 unique players logged onto Halo 3 in the last 24 hours according to Bungie.net.

Sure the excuses will be "360 haz no games!" but maybe Halo 3 is just that good? What other console game if not any multiplayer shooter is pulling in unique user numbers like Halo 3 two years after release? Crazy.

Can't wait for Halo: Reach.

even if halo : reach comes out

still people will play halo 3

halo 2 is still the most playable game on xbox originals

For their continued success and a big thank you for supporting their game and their community all of these years. I am looking forward to halo: reach.

Does that mean more people play RE5 in Japan, than in the rest of the world?

And are more people playing the demos of Halo Wars, UFC and L4D2 than the full games?

Elven63601d ago

In regards to RE5, how did you come to that conclusion?

For the demos it depends, it's based off how long the demos were played over a period of time. In some cases the demo may have gotten more play time than the actual game. Halo Wars for instance is currently the most or fastest selling (forget which one) demo on the XBLVM. Also factor in that the demo is free but the full game is not.

Bathyj3601d ago

Well isnt Biohazard 5 Japan only, while everywhere else is Resident Evil? Maybe Bio is in other asian territories too, I dont know.

I'm aware also that demos are free, I just figured if people put any sort of time into the demo that would translate to decent sales and the numbers for the full game would be up too.

I guess its just closer than you realise. I myself have spend more time on some demos than I did on the final game. MGS2 and DMC being two examples.

"the most popular games on the LIVE Service for 2009 based on connectivity."

I think its based on how many people downloaded the demos as well. Not only how much they played them. I myself download and try out almost all demos I can get.

Possibly, it could also be how the game is entered into their database that they pull the statistics from?
