Ever wanted to buy a PC that can double as an Xbox 360?
RroD incoming. ;)
What do you call it if it doesn't have a ring? Cluster-f*ck? ;)
CFoD? Cluster-f*ck of Death? :D
People do this kinda thing all the time, it's called being a retard.
microsoft did that a while ago, they stuffed and old pc into an xbox, spin it a few times around and called it xbox 360 , OOOOHHHH SnaP xD
....what would you need a 360 for?
Should be called. Guy stuffs PC into a PC case. After all. :()
"But then, why are we even contemplating the potential pros and cons? Who actually wants an Xbox 360 in their PC chassis? Anyone?" Yeah, you could use the PC chassis to put PC hardware in and most likely get something more powerful...
I stuffed an old PC into an Xbox a couple years ago :P
microshaft really does know how to innovate LOL
Actually, I've had this idea for a while now. The problem with the 360 has always been the airflow. The way the 360 is designed, the GPU is always covered by the DVD drive, thus limiting the heatsink and restricting airflow over the GPU, ultimately leading to many of the RRoDs. Not only that, but the system RAM is also tucked away behind all of that, so it doesnt get the cooling it need either. If you put it in a PC case, you could open it up for a fan on the GPU, and maybe even heat sinks on the memory chips. Put some good case fans in there and you could that thing running very cool, and possibly greatly reducing or completely eliminating the chance of an RRoD or E74 error.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't Microsoft ban people from XBL for modifying the 360? or something like that.
they get banned for modding to allow the xbox to play dowloaded games.
That seems like a great idea, if your an Xbox360 developer. A boon if you will, when porting code to test. Considering XNA has native code for both the 360 and PC, I could see this being used by developers, depending on what Microsoft says is allowed, but it could speed up development, and porting by a considerable amount, leaving more time for polish and optimization, as long as airflow and circulation isn't a problem.
Why would you play the 360 if you have a good pc right there...?
with a real cooling solution.
rrod if a problem thats long gone :P... this isnt the original release of the 360 lol hardwares improved
I bought a 1500$ pc from Ibuypower a couple years ago and it was the worst purchase experience I've ever had. I specifically chose a bundle with free 3 day shipping to game as quickly as possible on it, waited 2 weeks and nothing so I gave them a ring and an employee actually threatened to ship my computer to me broken and unfinished if I didn't stop complaining about the shipping times. Well a week later it came, broken and I had to pay the shipping cost myself to return it. So I was out 250 bucks and had a horrible experience. Just seeing their name disgusts me.
There was probably fine print somewhere saying that your purchase could take up to xx days/weeks to ship. I've placed orders that may not ship for 21 days.
i dont no how much you no about computers but for me, buying a bare bones PC was the best decision, just throwing in my hard drive and DVD drive and knowing thats it was pretty nice i no your issue was sh!tty delivery and service but i thought i would just say this anyway
I'll build my own in the future. I don't know how but from what I hear it isn't terribly hard to do especially with all these guides to follow online.
WOW dont ever buy from ibuypower (iboughtcrap) you paid too much. build your own PC. it's cheaper you learn a lot feeling of self reward and it's actually not very hard then spend countless hours overclocking and tweaking to perfection
Yes, building your own can be cheaper. But the biggest bonus to building your own is knowing what you have to work with. Especially when it comes to SLI/Crossfire builds. Plus customizing the rig to match your style is much easier, and often cheaper when you build your own.
Actually this isn't a bad idea. If you tend to game away from home, why not tuck everything into one case? Or, if you're like me and hate the looks of the 360 and want a change. If I had an extra pc case lying around, I would def transplant the 360 just for giggles. Maybe then, with all the added airflow my sh!t wouldn't RRoD(again) or even stop crashing due to over heating.
First off ibuypower SUCKS and are way overpriced. PC gamers build there systems piece buy glorious piece. 2nd why infest your PC with an XBOX 3 shi^^y that's like giving a healthy person an upgrade to terminal Cancer Ive seen a PS3 that was really a PC an a VCR that was a PC and I have to say this is the WORST MOD I have ever seen (they got cables coming out the side) very noobish
