BNG: MAG Beta Impressions: MAGnificent or Not?

BNG's Tyler Treat writes, "I had a chance to check out the MAG beta this past week. Certainly the game showed potential from the demos I had seen, so how does it hold up in action? Considering the game releases January 26 (in North America at least), it's pretty clear that this beta is fairly representative of the final product. Thus, I will describe my experience to you in full, and I will hold nothing back."

it has addicting gameplay. Kinda scares me sometimes. I stay at home all day when I play this game. Im at level 22!

Not a bad game, but I won't buy it. I don't buy multiplayer only games...

But that's because I'm afraid I might have a rough spell where I can't afford the internet for a month or something. I ain't rich and I'm smart enough to know shi+ happens. If it did then I would have one less game to play that month to get me by until my pockets were right.

This is shaping up to be a hell of a game. Trouble is it will probably become too addictive.

One of the better previews I read on MAG so far. Pretty level headed. I don't have too much worry most of the complaints will be addressed in due time and I won't be surpsrised when they start releasing updates that make interesting changes. Even in beta it's still better than SOCOM Confrontation was at launch, but today SOCOM Confrontation is a pretty good game. MAG will only go up in terms of fun factors, presentation, and performance because it's an online only game and improvements are easily applied through patches.

Oh, but the grenades are going to stay the way they are. It's the SOCOM approach and like it or not, is more realistic.
