Nomura : "An Amazing announce of a requested GAME this year"

Yes, maybe it's the the gift of Square Enix and the major Character Designer of Final Fantasy Series (VII - Compilation Of FF VII, VIII, X and XIII's), Tetsuya Nomura.

In a interview printed yesterday in the japanese Magazine Gamega, he respond to the journalist "If 2010, will the year for the announcement of the game of his dream ?"

"I can just say, that indeed, whereas I'm still working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Agito XIII and a little later on The 3rd Birthday (this year), we will announce other games this year and which one is terribly waited from everyone and often "REQUESTED" by fans and even of the press crew that I meet All over the World."

KH III, no sure, A game Very waited by fans could be a Kingdom Hearts game, but by the press, it's just NO.
The only possibility is a FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, so Kawazu (Crystal Chronicles/ Ivalice Alliance / SaGa) wasn't kidding us. A FF VII Remake Annoucement is it in preparation for NEXT E3 or TGS 2010 ?

If a remake does happen, I hope Square Enix don't change too much. I want it to not only look like FFVII (in HD graphics), but I want it to FEEL like FFVII. Crisis Core had moments that made me feel nostalgic, but then there were moments that made me go "WTF!" and wonder what the hell Square were thinking when they put that in the FFVII world (Genesis is one of them, Minerva was another).

If the remake is changed too much, people will complain.
If it is made exactly the same (with the appropriate upgrades, of course) people will complain.
But at least the latter gives people what they asked for - an exact remake. At least then nobody can claim Square Enix didn't give fans what they asked for.

No, if it IS FFVII remake I can only see it being a full multi or, depending on the rights, a Sony exclusive.That said I don't personally see the point and worry that gaming is already eating itself-people didn't want to learn a different set of FPS controls for KZ2 ans cried for COD ones. People are also clamouring for remakes in HD for games like Ico, SotC and others following the GOW HD package. When someone pushes things away from the tried and tested in genres like jrpgs there's always a gnashing of teeth from those wanting staid, full turn based combat and even demanding FF go back to blue speech bubbles FFS! Bungie still didn't go all the way with changes in ODST because they were a little in thrall of the previous loved series entries gameplay and didn't want to risk upsetting the Halo massive, imo.

Seriously, do we want to plead with devs to make the same games every time the tech moves forwards or we see an impressive tech demo? That means that they can stop putting out so many new games and just rehash the old stuff while we play the same things forever in a loop? Honestly , it might just seem like one or two right now but think about it-they already resell the old stuff for us on PSN, VC and XBLA don't they? PD is getting an HD remake, GOW has too and the deafening clamour for FFVII doesn't stop even in the same year that the original has sold, like, a gazillion copies on PSN. So, while the tech demo for HD FFVII was amazing to look at do we really want to push the idea to developers that they can stop the idea train and repackage games that already made millions from whenever they feel the need?

Talking about Square Enix, is there anybody there that received a code for a Chocobo pet on Xbox Live? We were supposed to receive it in early December and I still got nothing.

Anyway, I'm not sure it would be a good idea to do a remake of Final Fantasy VII. It was an awesome game but a remake may not satisfy fans if it's not done correctly. A simple bug, a simple change in the story, a simple forgotten easter egg and it may be an uproar, such as Sephiroth's gloves in Aeris' long sleep cinematic, or the mad guy with a number 2 tattooed in Midgar, the possibility of dating Barrett in Gold Saucer, being chosen by Don Corneo in Wall Market, the duplication bug, the 7777 fever, etc... Final Fantasy VII was a huge game with tons of environments, characters, cinematics, cut-scenes,... Remaking such game would require an enormous budget and very cautious polish if Square don't want to turn fans mad.

However, if it's a Kingdom Hearts on Xbox 360 / PS3, I'll maybe check the first two. I've never liked KH due to the Disney universe but I may change my mind if a new one is planned.
But personally, I'd love to see a PS3 / 360 Parasite Eve.

I don't understand why people are still talking about the importance of exclusives. The PS3 has arguably the most impressive set of exclusives, especially this year, and it has no noticeable impact on hardware sales. The only franchise/game that would now make a difference if it were exclusive was Madden or FIFA and that's not going to happen.

A FF7 PS3 exclusive would have no impact on the PS3. The Final Fantasy fans are already getting a PS3.

It would have an impact... FFVII sold over 9.5 million worldwide, and there are loads of people who just played FFVII and loved it, but didn't really play/care for the later FF games as much. I guarantee that all sorts of FFVII fanboys would jump out of the woodworks and buy a PS3 just for a FFVII remake.

So far I think reintype has the best outlook on this, and a very good list of games in order of how likely they will be the outcome (10 being most likely in my eyes).

I personally would be happy with a new game/sequel to any of the games reintype listed. They all would have promise, each in their own regard, and have a place in the hearts of fans of each respective game.

As for me, the top three games I personally would like to see...

#3: Chrono Trigger remake or sequel
I would love to see a new addition to the CT lineup. However having said that, I also would be happy if the games were left as-is. Like most people, I have warm fuzzy feelings for CT and a remake probably wouldn't do much for me. If anything, they would likely botch it. Not to say that the sequel (Chrono Cross) botched, but it certainly was not what fans were asking for. In its own right, I loved CC. It was just... unexpected.

#2: Xenogears remake.
Xenogears was one of the more mature, deep-thinking games I've ever played. Hell, when I played it as a kid, most of the deeper plot points went right over my head (read: anything past the change to Disc 2). I think a re-make would do a world of good for the classic Xenogears. A graphical overhaul would do a world of good: character sprites often became horribly pixelated when zoomed, 3D worlds were at times a bit crude, and story elements were riddled with confusing plot holes and some poor translation errors. If they did it right, the game would be beautiful.

#1. I admit, Final Fantasy 7 Remake would be the most likely candidate, based on the hints. Why? We all KNOW Kingdom Hearts III is coming. It's going to happen. We don't know exactly when (or even what year), but it's coming. We DON'T know if a FF7 remake is on its way though (at least, not with any certainty). Financially, it makes perfect sense for Square to make a remake - if done well, it would make buckets of cash. And if not, people will still buy it, whine, and still come back for more.

Personally, I'd like to see them remake 7. The game was nice as is and everything, but the world they created was very intriguing to me - and I was left not getting enough of it. In ways, I was sad they used pre-rendered graphics. I wanted the ability to look around and explore the beauty of the game's world. And I think a fully polygonal 3D world in a remake would give me what I wanted all along: an immersive experience in the FF7 world. To look up at will to see Shinra tower looming over the slums, and more.

As for how to remake it story-wise, I think it should be a "95% accurate" remake. They should have the liberty to change some things. I'm sure there were some elements they had to dumb down due to hardware or development time limitations. Perhaps more Chocobo Racing courses, more side-quests. Things they always wanted in the game, that they couldn't fit in. Keep the story the same, but have room for additions.

But alas, don't get your hopes up. Perhaps it's only a sequel to Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest.

And i found this interview on Youtube with Kawazu where he states that someone in the company will probably remake FF7 but he won't be a part of it.

I'm just not sure how you would be able to remake it? Would you change the dialogue to make it more in tune with rpgs today? In doing so I would think the game would lose some of the charm that made it such an amazing experience to begin with. Do you add spoken dialogue? You would have to essentially re-imagine the entire game. I'm sure it would be fantastic, however I'm just not sure it would be Final Fantasy VII anymore.

get the voice actors from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children and will add spoken dialoge or even better have a option where you can have it like the original or with spoken dialoge.

Update the graphics like you saw in the PS3 FFVII Demo with Cloud and Aris and use Crystal Engine Tools i think they call it to update it more. You know they already got that they wouldn't throw that away and delete all that work that they did.

And just do what someone else stated add all the stuff and emprove on things and make it the way they imaged it now that they have Blu-Ray they can add all the extra side quest that never made it cause of disk space. Like more things to do when you go to the Golden Saucer, more games in the arcade and what not.

If they remake FFVII, and make it a Sony Exclusive, it would be to cherry on the top of a Big Cake for 2010 for PS3. Definitively a turn up in this so called Console War.

i'm no big FF fan either, it just isn't for me, but you have to be aware of how unique and iconic FFVII is in gaming.

It's amongst the most revered games ever, and it had the biggest fan following in its time, and still does.

Don't underestimate the power of FFVII, even if you can't appreciate it's gameplay or story, at least appreciate it for the impact it had in the gaming industry and many gamers

Final Fantasy VII Remake(PS3 exclusive) plus additional new materia

When did kingdom hearts become more hyped than final fantasy VII? Without VII, there wouldn't be many of the great rpgs that followed from it, Kingdom Hearts included.
Final Fantasy VII is easily the most sought after remake, especially after they teased us with all those spin offs; those were simply to fuel up the hype machine and to test the avidity of the fans; to see if a remake would be commercially viable. Kingdom Hearts has had nothing in the way of such spin offs except I guess that Ds game and the psp one (Both pretty peripheral; Not on particularily eminent consoles, and therefore pretty inconspicuous releases). And the article makes a sound point: The press don't really give a crap about kingdom hearts; it VII they praise at every opportunity they get. It's the bigger game, and the bigger francise, so it's therefore also infinitely more lucrative for SE.
That said I've not played KH, but I have heard good things from fans. Bottom line though, it can't be KH3 and i'll be furious if it is because we've waited far too long for a remake of VII. KH2 came out when? like 4 years ago? You can wait a little longer, surely?. Conversely, Final Fantasy VII came out at the beginning of 1997, it's coming up to nearly two decades since then; now is the time.

- Final Fantasy VII remake.

- Chrono Cross sequal.

If it's either one of those, hopefully it's PlayStation 3 only so it doesn't become another watered down game. Cough "Final Fantasy XIII due to Xbox 360" cough.

I don't think it works that way, both versions were built from the original PC build of the game. And that version is the better looking of the three, despite being on the same DVD as Xbox 360 games.

The trailers of the first years of FF XIII's development weren't realtime, they were CG. When they finally showed gameplay they also announced the Xbox 360 version being in development. Everything from before that point up until E3 2008 was only what they'd already worked on with PC, actual gameplay trailers of each version became available to download through PSN and XBL respectively. For E3 2008 Microsoft used the previous trailers with the word Go over the action buttons.

FF XIII already looks way better than Uncharted 2 Kill Zone 2 and MGS4 so it's already been proven that Xbox 360 can do much better graphics. I think they're very confident in their ability to work Xbox 360 and will be bringing us some awesome games in the future, maybe PS3 as well if they're in the mood.

the 360 holding ps3 development games back thats why final fantasy 13 is coming out the same time as you questiopn not one game on the 360 has not topped uncharted 1 uncharted 2 metal gearsolid 4 let alone killzone 2 motorstorm all say hi which these games are way above xbox 360 grapchics offers until then the xbox 360 not in the same leaugue as the ps3 games thats why you will never see final fantasy vs 13 on xbox because of the dvd 8 thats why final fantasy vs 13 is a real next gen game that wont get gimped because of the 360 so until then if you can name one game on 360 that tops ps3 graphics then im sorry because you know ps3 way more powerful than the 360 theres no game on xbox you can metioned that can top ps3 graphics

Keep on dreaming, no one has seen the xbox version yet, I still think it will look worse because they are having to compress the CGI and the textures, so as a result it will not as good as the PS3 version, also, it will not run at the same speed as the PS3 version keep on dreaming, and in my opinion U2 does look better than FF 13, use the hair as a reference Elena's hair looks miles better than lightning's, not to mention everything else.
I hope one day Mistwalker will make an JRPG for PS3, that would be interesting

I really do hope it's a Final Fantasy VII remake. This would be mind-blowing. and Be a relativly easy money maker for Square-Enix.

The reason for that is that the fans who wan't VII REMAKE Just want updated graphics/CGI/Voiceovers/Music, the gameplay, storyline, ect is all fine if it remained the same. Half the work of FF 13, with a guarenteed 5 million sales. Seems like good business to me.

1 remember an article that came out couple months ago about a massive ps3 exclusive that will be announced next year( http://www.psxextreme.com/p... well i think that the exclusive is Kingdom Hearts 3. In the article it talks about a familiar game which means a franchise and says their would be a huge improvement over the last installment which means a ps2 franchise joining in the ps3. Also the article states that we wont have to worry about the title going multi-platform which means that the title is being developed by a 3rd studio which in this case is Square-Enix. Many like myself are waiting for the 3rd installment of the series but also the media. If i recall in many interviews Nomura is always asked if their would be a third installment to the series and he always denies. Hopefully my prediction is correct and if it is i cant wait to see how the game would look using and taking advantage of the ps3 title.
