Rebellion: 'AvP Is No Rogue Warrior'

NowGamer: The lead game designer on Rebellion's upcoming franchise shooter has played down the negative reactions to the studio's 2009 releases

When it was pointed out to Alex Moore that both Shellshock 2: Blood Trails and recent flop Rogue Warrior might influence gamers' feelings towards the upcoming Aliens vs Predator, the developer insisted that they were worlds apart.

Agreed. I will just have to wait for Colonial Marines to get my Aliens online multiplayer fix. The predator is cool, but the suspense is not as intense as dealing with a gagillion aliens coming at you.

Rebellion did the first AvP game on the PC, and it was good. Not perfect, but one of the first games that I completely finished - all three campaigns.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Don't forget, the original Alien vs Predator on the Jaguar was actually a pretty great game for its time. It was one of the best games on the system, if not the best.

I saw it advertised a few time, but they were short and nothing special. I still wanna play it. Some games can surprise you.

The problem with colonial marines is how outdated it looks. Just check out the screenshots then compare it to AVP3. I like how AVP3 looks, i just how the gameplay would be as great as AVP2. They need to have at most 32 players online but since it worries me cuz of 360. If the max is 16, then either the preds or the marines will have it too easy. Aliens will get slaughtered or hide unlike in AVP2 in which they actually swarm or pounce you from a far.

You can see they already nerfed AVP. What the heck is up with a jump indicator for the predator. That is sad. I used to jump on light poles on the PC with the predator. And then they have a penalty for sitting still for to long! Yeah have fun pushing that one. I will rent this game.

relax alittle...I've played the game and so far it's good and won't disappoint fans and will be the best game these guys will have put out so far this gen. I was at a recent demo they had in nyc and played a couple of new multiplayer modes and some of the single player as the alien and marines. To put it bluntly, it doesn't suck.

I'm looking forward to this game. Loved the ones on the PC, and to now play it on my home theater setup is going to kick ass. Will it be the greatest game? Probably not, but it should be pretty entertaining. Hell I think I am looking forward to the single player modes, then the multiplayer part of it. This is one franchise that could be developed a hell of a lot more then what it has been done for it.

you're home theater set-up will love this game! everything from the screams of the aliens, the beeps of your motion tracker to the shots fired from you're pulse rifle, all is spot on! There was a multiplayer mode i played where one person was a predator taking out everyone else on the map. One of of the coolest things was hearing the sound of the predator killing a player. As everyone is searching for the predator you could hear the screams of a marine being taking out from a close or stealth kill. it sounded just like from the first movie when he took out the soldiers in the jungle, the echoing scream and gurgle. Gave me goose bumps and makes you say "holy sh!t where is it!" lol

Rogue Warrior is the worst piece of crap i've had the displeasure to play in my PC this year, i'll be really careful with Rebellion's upcoming releases

never played rogue warrior but Sellshock 2 is one of the worst games i have played, thank god i played it at a friends house... it wasn't even worth playing for free... i think Rebellion made those 2 games only to get some money while they were working on AVP i think AVP will be good

indeed rogue warrior is a very bad game mainly due to the awful AI and repetitive gameplay! But the ingame engine is a very nice looking one if get it on max settings.
