The PixelJunk "series" from Q-Games has quietly built itself into something of an event each time a new installment makes its debut. Despite the fact that each game is its own distinct entity and has little in common with the previous game, a dedicated core of fans have waited for the latest-PixelJunk Shooter-to finally show up on PSN. Inevitably, comparisons will be made between these games, with a focus on some of the series basic commonalities-- music, visuals and most importantly, game play. In regards to the latter, can PixelJunk Shooter hit a wider audience, and perhaps finally shake the perception that PixelJunk games in general are stylish, but just too bloody hard?

Jake from PC Gaming Enthusiast reviews the former PlayStation exclusive.

"The ultimate edition received a major overhaul, which includes graphics. The overall artist effort truly shines on the PC. The water in each level looks like it is actually flowing, with perfectly precise physics, and subtle depth."
