Out of Eight writes: "Back in 2008, Paradox Interactive released the game engine used for their last-generation grand strategy games for free as the Europa Engine License Program. Anybody could contact them and develop a game that would be published online at their download service, Gamer's Gate. The first of those games has arrived in the form of For the Glory. This enhancement of Europa Universalis II incorporates the infamous AGCEEP mod, which added tens of thousands of historical events, and a handful of other changes to the old game. Europa Universalis III is most likely my favorite game ever and I am quite used to the many improvements that version added over the second in the series. Will the additions For the Glory offers compensate for using an older game engine?"

SquareGo: "Paradox Interactive have been creating historical strategy games for the PC since 1998. They are most famous for three major series; Hearts of Iron, Victoria and Europa Universalis. To say that they are improving steadily with each game may sound daft, but given that their original model of "Europa Universalis" was an incredibly well detailed and in-depth experience, I hope you might understand my full meaning of improvement a little better."

GDN writes: "For the Glory spans from 1419 – 1820 providing us with a historic version of events from almost all of the cultures and dynasties from the time. But in this version things don't always have to go as they did in history. For The Glory puts history in your hands and lets you mold the world to your shape and change history for the better. Depending on how well you handle the situations put before you. Compared to EUII, which this game feels like an expansion to, the UI has been greatly improved offering useful tool tips and new icons which make things slightly easier."
