Team Fortress - Demoman vs Soldier Update

TF2 Blog: "So: how is the War update different from our other class updates?

In many ways, it's not. Like any other class update, the War update will reveal three new weapons each for the Demoman and Soldier throughout the week, as well as some maps, achievements, and surprises, right up until the day of release, when everything we've been teasing goes live..."

In short, show your support for each class by logging on to TF2 and kill each other. Which ever class, Demoman or Soldier, has the most kills on one another by next week gets an extra unlock.

they are basically doing what most MMO games are doing. Keep adding new content(for FREE) and people will keep playing

I can see TF2 have the same lasting appeal like CS and CS:S which are still very popular for games as old as those are.

My favorite update was Sniper. Hearing a THUNK as someone's face gets pinned to the wall is awesome.

Usually when they do a big update, they release a new "meet the...." can't wait to see the trailers for the rest of the cast.

The soldier is very well balanced. Rockets do enough damage, and crit rockets are sick. The shotgun is great for finishing off enemies at close range and the rocket jump takes very little health to do plus I feel that soldier fall damage is less compared to other classes.

The demo on the other hand is unbalanced. Sticky jumping hurts like a mother. Pipe bombs are hard to aim at a decent distance and short range good luck hitting someone without hitting yourself and possibly killing yourself. Stickies are nice but at the same time not very good for close range. They have about a 2 second delay before you can blow them up in mid air and to strategically place them in the middle of a fight is difficult and takes concentration, skill, and a bit of luck.

In other words, the Demo needs the update because he has no close range weapon and could desperately use one.

As of now the Soldier is ahead by a full 100,000 kills. That's a large margin I feel. Ughh...its easier to play soldier that's why. FYI according to the War Hub page its...

Soldier: 1,390,000 demomen killed
Demoman: 1,290,000 soldiers killed

I also feel like these numbers are a bit off. What are the odds they would both land on an even 1000 number. Oh well, it gets the points across.
