Edge: At the UBS annual Global Media and Communications Conference in New York this week EA CEO John Riccitiello spoke of the increased effort EA has put into Wii.
The only one who is innovating is SONY. Nintendo and Microshaft only cut their ( already cheap ) prices because of SONY. It's time for the KING to take back his throne.
Nintendo hasn't been innovative since N64
Instead of its console being a standard graphical update, it decided to reinvent how games were played and they innovated motion control. Say what you want, but they took a risk, it paid off BIG time, and now Sony and Microsoft are following in Nintendo's shoes trying to replicate the success. All that are characteristics of innovation. Sure, the Wii is annoying with its predominantly casual market and Nintendo hasn't been doing much to offer something a little more valuable to its core gamers, but they have most certainly innovated since N64. I just wish they would take the time and money (God knows they have it) to implement a legit online system and to make more core games. Nintendo can't rely solely on their internal studios and it's time for some more games that satisfy the core gamer. All that aside, the Wii innovated
wich game your talking about thats soo inovative becuase all im seeing is shovelware and more mario zelda with dumb wobbling with your hands yeah that will bring me in the game so please whats soo innovative about this all
kratos123 -- If you're wobbling your hands for most Wii games, you're doing it wrong. IR/pointer for aiming works great for shooters. Metroid benefited greatly from it, as did RE4. The projectile combat in Twilight Princess was even improved because of it. The swing mechanics for TW10 really are better. And sword combat is supposed to be big in the next Zelda. If none of that's your bag, cool. Just don't fault others for finding innovation in areas you aren't interested in exploring.
Mario Kart 64 Mario Kart Double Dash (GC) Mario Kart wii Metroid Super Metroid Metroid Prime Metroid Prime 2 Metroid Prime Corruption Super Smash Bros Super Smash Bros Melee Super Smash Bros Brawl Mario Bros Mario Bros 2 Mario Bros 3 Mario Sunshine Mario Galaxy The legend of Zelda The legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time The legend of Zelda Majora's Mask The legend of Zelda twilight Princess FZero (SNES) FZero (GC)
it hasn't ? the Gamecube was far better than ps 2 the fail was put mini-dvds instead normal , this made nintendo lost even more the credibility if the nintendo 64 ran cds i believe that Sony wouldn't make great achievements and getting to the point innovation , who didn't innovate was Sony the most innovative thing from Sony was eyetoy and it sucks about the games you dont call innovation Its called franchise like Sony ratchet and clank , GOW , SOCOM or , HALO of XBOX and even third parties have than like Resident Evil from CAPCOM , nintendo did other games that were really inovative like Wii sports
Why don't you worry about what EA must do. EA is the company laying off thousands of employees and bleeding money. Maybe its EA who needs to start innovating. What increased effort on Wii? DS:E? NFS:Nitro? Only game where I give EA props is Tiger 10 on Wii other than that... Worry about your own Riccitiello. And why is innovation solely on Nintendo's shoulders?
Seriously. TW10 is the only Motion+ game they've really hit out of the park. They haven't even made a TPS with IR/pointer to top the RE4 port from Capcom, instead giving us a Dead Space rail shooter. You can't talk about innovation when the best your company comes up with is a frickin' on-rails game. Nail IR first in great FPS and TPS games, quit dumbing down your football sim, pull your golf sim graphics out of last gen, THEN you can talk about other people needing to innovate.
I LOVE NINTY. :) EA? I can't understand how EA games even sell.
No offense EA, I love your games to death. But the Wii has innovated. It was the first motion control console on the market. Not a aftermarket extra motion control, motion control as standard. And while I am not and probably never will be a fan of motion controls, I also cannot deny that Ninty took a huge risk with the Wiimote.
All I see is shovelware games.
EA talking about innovation? lmao *cough* Madden *cough* *cough* The Sims *cough* *cough* EA Sports Active *cough* *cough* Medal of Honor *cough* Oh my the air is cold here.
Lol ain't that the truth. EA are the masters of stringing gamers out on franchises. Activision are the new bad boy publishers, but EA are still of the same type. Games are for profit, not for playing. The board are all that matters. Money only matters.
EA need to innovate, if your games aren't selling on the wii that's because they aren't very good. Take a leaf out of Nintendos titles and make a game that people really want to buy. Nintendo make games that sell well because they take the time to make a great game.
Actually, EA has been innovating quite a bit lately. Activision however..
I guess people think mirrors edge is a rehash, i thought dead space was a fun game, people screaming innovation need to stop and actually think. Plenty of games have tried to do new or innovative things in their games and it made the game alot worse than going off the old formula. Just because something is innovative doesn't always mean it's going to be groundbreaking or even fun. As for nintendo being innovative with motion controls why the hell wasn't it 1 to 1 out of the box, instead of having to buy another accessory to make the thing truly accurate. I am not going to argue with fanatics because anything that isn't all hail motion controls/nintendo is ignored.
He is saying that but EA never had a console , almost be sold to microsoft , and still just do a pile of junk games for nintendo , they should be ashamed , I really like the EA series but on nintendo they are far to do something good , the last great game form EA that I played for nintendo was International Superstar Soccer for N64
Considering how badly alot third party games sell on the wii, nintendo would do well to try and meet 3rd party games half way and help advertise those games to the casual crowd. If nintendo would try to boost 3rd party sales the game quality might increase.. Stop expecting first party quality from third party devs especially if it's on the wii, even only a few 3rd party ps3 games match 1st party games in quality, it can happen it is just rare. Lol i just read your post up there gc better than a ps2, thats all i need to see about gaming from you.
GC was more powerful than PS2. I got what he was saying. Why couldnt you? Obviously English isnt his first language. Or that would be my guess. Nintendo owes nothing to 3rd parties for their crap games getting bad sales. I am pretty sure that any game you came up with that failed would have also failed on any other console. Or most likely didnt fail at all and you are blindly thinking Wii games cost as much as PS3/360 games and therefor need at least 2 million or whatever to make any money. My guess is your most likely a headline reader and do not actually look into it for yourself. Would explain why your opinion is based off of something besides reality Ubisoft just so happened to promise Nintendo level quality in their games this year. So people should expect that from them, they did after all say it.
letting sony or microsoft intergrate is the end of the gaming world talk about infinite tony hawk rides.
That guy is sporting quite the creepy pedo-smile. Though it might be true, nintendo might be getting a tad lazy for the sake of their bottom line. Though I have learned theu need to make at least a few mistakes every gen. This one the big mistake is laziness, last gen it was the want to catch the "core gamer" and the gen before it was holding to the difficult and expensive cart format. I'm eager to see the lesson they learn next gen. Though i'm confident they have yet to learn laziness is not an admirable trait.
