Being A Game Voice Actress Can Be Scary, Yurika Ochiai Receives Death Threats

Being a game voice-actress can be scary at times. Yesterday, Japanese VA Yurika Ochiai revealed in her blog that police recently contacted her about a number of death threats that had been made against her.

Ochiai has decided to take time off from her blog and any announcements about publicity events while she deals with the threats.

Sadly, death threats against Japanese actors and voice-actors (particularly females) seem to be becoming a more common thing in the last few years. Many VAs have reported that they have recieved threats from upset "fans" for reasons such as: portraying a character in the wrong way, portraying a character that fans don't like, dating/marrying someone fans don't approve of, appearing in games/shows fans don't approve of, and so on.

Wow, there are some creepy wankers at work here.

Like they say in my parts: "The gardener's dog, neither get's it himself, nor lets anybody else". But this time it's a bit psychotic version.

why would anyone want to hurt her

Noctis Aftermath5252d ago

I think these "fans" need to focus more on their own lives and not somebody elses.

Leathersoup5252d ago

It's not hard to believe that sort of thing happening. With the internet the way it is I'm surprised that doesn't happen 24/7.

redDevil875252d ago

That's very disturbing. Fans becoming so obsessed with you they begin to disapprove of who you marry :|

Pozzle5252d ago

The sad thing is, some of those celebrities can get fired if they date or marry AT ALL. It's especially common in girl groups/bands. The managers want to preserve their "young, innocent" appeal, so if they date/marry they are forced to leave the group. It happened to Mari from Morning Musume.
That sort of thinking by the managers/marketers only encourages the creepier fanatics, tbh.

It reminds me of Perfect Blue movie...

MisterNiwa5252d ago

Perfect Blue was a superb movie, bubbles for mentioning it.

But on topic.
Japanese Otaku, few of them, are sure sick people.

I mean, just because they cant accept that their favorite actress/voiceactor/singer is doing something they dont like, they need to threat em?
That is poor. It really is. =/

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
