Sounds reasonable, but I'm sure this will bring up lots of other speculation as well.

When companies are downsizing, it means they have too high an overhead and need to lose employees correct? Sony must be taking hits from the PS3 and maybe are getting into a bad situation. Losing money, pending lawsuits that may hold up in court. Everything looks bad for Sony right now from my perspective. But maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture.

Now I'll ready myself for losing some bubbles because I said something negative about the precious PS3.

Its a fair comment. Downsizing is a method of reducing overheads, peoples saleries are a huge expense for a companies with 1000s of employees and therefore lay-offs becomes a quick short term fix. Its no secret that they are taking hits from the PS3.

I dont think reducing overheads was Sonys main motive for the downsize. I think they are more concerned with long term goals of improving productivity and efficiency.

But Hey, corperations are heartless and brutal so who knows.

Microsoft may need to take a Sony stance, they have not done anything about its huge operating losses from its gaming division.
