Rumor Roundup for Metal Gear Solid: Rising

From the PlanetXbox360.com feature article:

"There was a lot of excitement surrounding the announcement of Metal Gear Solid: Rising at this year's E3. With practically no concrete details about the game coming from the announcement-besides the fact that it will be the first Metal Gear game on the Xbox 360-message boards and blogs started blowing up with ideas surrounding what this game is all about. To report on all these speculations I searched high and low, digging though console war disputes and half-baked theories to bring you, fine reader, the skinny on what could be happening with Metal Gear Solid: Rising."

This game looks very interesting; hope some of the rumors in this list are true (and others are not, lol)

GWAVE3246d ago

It's Metal Gear, so I'll certainly play it.

However, I'm far more excited for Peace Walker, since it's the brainchild of Kojima and it's being made by the MGS4 team. Rising is made by Kojima's B-team of MGS Ac!d fame (yuck).

deadreckoning6663245d ago (Edited 3245d ago )

Im personally not excited for this. I was really dissapointed with MGS4. Cutscene after cutscene after cutscene. Rising looks to offer more gameplay but I still don't know.

@Darkstorn- I respect your opinion entirely, but for me, it was annoying sitting through some of these cutscenes. I acknowedge the technical and artisitic brilliance of MGS4, but theres just to many cutscenes. Kojima really got carried away with the story.

When I first beat the game, I used my friends save data, so I already had every unlockable weapon and item in the game, so I got by rather easily. Maybe that was the reason I didn't enjoy it as much as you did.

THE MAX SPEED 213245d ago

Yeah @ Valkeryie The game might a good Spinoff of the series. I'm pretty sure it wont dissapoint.

Bnet3433245d ago

I actually enjoyed Ac!d more than Portable Ops so I have faith that that team can make Rising a great game if they are indeed the team responsible for making it. I need to learn more about this game before I start making my moves.

erathaol3245d ago

Microsoft has been posting job openings for a MGS Natal Project, I believe the two are related since Rising and Natal were announced on the same show floor. I could be wrong.

DevastationEve3245d ago

I think nobody here really knows what they're talking about. And to those who say Rising is a spin off, so is MGS. It's a spin off of the original MG games on Nintendo, and that didn't stop it from being one of the greatest games in history.

MGS Rising has the chance to do the same for the series...

Darkstorn3245d ago

@1.2-
I disagree completely. MGS4 is my favorite game this gen, and I'm very excited for Rising.
The MGS series is not all that accessible, but once you get into it, it becomes just about the most compelling series of games out there.

beardpapa3245d ago

@1.5

MGS could also mean microsoft game studios.

umm...no, it's not a spin off.

Metal Gear is about Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid is about Solid Snake.

Spin offs are about secondary characters. Like Frasier from Cheers, Joey from Friends etc.

It's about time this action series left the Playstation and came back to it's true home on the Xbox 360 - because of that MGS Rising will be the best in the series, hands down!

Roper3163246d ago

as long as you are happy thinking that then good for you. But anyone who knows anything knows the true sequel to the Metal Gear series is Peace Walker and Kojima did a PSP title just to keep the real MGS saga on the PS platform. So you have fun and enjoy your spinoff game while PS gamers get the real MGS game with Snake on the PSP.

hay3246d ago (Edited 3246d ago )

@UltimaEnder: Lol, funniest comment I've seen here for a long time. Good joke dude, have a bubble.

-GametimeUK-3246d ago

Oh boy... This guy is better than me lol

"But anyone who knows anything knows the true sequel to the Metal Gear series is Peace Walker and Kojima did a PSP title just to keep the real MGS saga on the PS platform"

What dev makes a "true sequel", on a handheld while putting the "spin-off", if you will on the console? He also said the Peace Walker team was jealous of the Rising team because they have the bigger budget and better specs with the new engine etc. Which is usual because console games bring in the lionshare of the profit.

ThatCanadianGuy3246d ago

You say that as if it's a challenge..

All he needs is an IQ above 20 to top your incoherent ramblings

dorron3245d ago

Last I checked Metal Gear series begun in MSX, not Xbox...Oh, I haven't seen a single Metal Gear game for that platform.

IaMs123245d ago (Edited 3245d ago )

I do agree Ender your comment is funny, im sure both platforms will look great, but i also find this funny

"So you have fun and enjoy your spinoff game while PS gamers get the real MGS game with Snake on the PSP."

Well because now since MGS is coming to the 360 this 1 of MANY spinoffs of the MGS world is thrown away. Nice, if you call yourselfs true MGS fans then you wouldnt care if it went to the 360 and still support your game.

Hypocrisy at its best here on N4G, everyday. Stay tuned.

EDIT: @Doron, there has been indeed MGS games on the original Xbox of course not the 360 yet, until well now.

Roper3163245d ago

"What dev makes a "true sequel", on a handheld"

Valkyria Chronicles 2 says hi. There is no spinoff of this series on the console though.

And I never said I wasn't going to buy, play and enjoy MG:Rising I am just saying it isn't gonna have the same style of gameplay as a true MGS game has. It is the Dirge of Cerubus of the MG series.

4Sh0w3245d ago

Nice spin, politics as usual. You couldn't even come up with a good example. Microsoft has had a consistent strategy of bringing all the big 3rd party franchises over to the 360 this gen, everybody knows MGS franchise is one of them so you know they werent going to stop throwing money at Kojima until a MGS game was on 360. They couldn't get MGS4 so they got the next MGS game. When Kojima was still in dev of MGS4 he talked about how he wanted to move on to something else, obviously you cant blame him for still doing more MGS games with so much demand from fans, still Kojima himself said he's going to be MORE involved than a normal producer with Rising, he wants to see what his team can do, with him there overseing the product at every step, being the perfectionist that he is Im sure he wont let them fail. Truthfully, I have no doubt if this game was exclusive nobody will be downplaying it as a spinoff while hyping the next PSP title. PSP has tons of spinoffs or "ports" of popular franchises, GT, GoW, R&C, so why is this situation so different? Dev's generally try to break new ground in sequels on consoles with new features, gameplay, graphics, co-op, multiplayer, etc, PSP has predominantly been where you see ports for fan service to enjoy those same games with lower specs on the road, mobile. Democrats and Republicans.

ThanatosDMC3245d ago

HAHAHA! That was great... eventhough Kojima said otherwise.

I still want an MGS3 remake on the PS3.

Wonder how will this game turnout since no Mr Kojima...

Rowsdower3245d ago (Edited 3245d ago )

at least somewhat

"It was also announced that Kojima will be more involved than a normal producer of the game (MGS:RISING) but will not have 100% input as Kojima is involved with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PlayStation Portable."

lowcarb3245d ago

This guy sounds like a perfectionist wow.

Rampaged Death3245d ago (Edited 3245d ago )

@dorron MGS2 was released on the Xbox. But back OT I don't have high hopes for this game at all. It's not going to be your normal MGS thats for sure.

DevastationEve3245d ago (Edited 3245d ago )

"...that's for sure"

Wow, you're already so sure on something that hasn't had any concrete details yet. How about just leaving the speculation out of it and seeing that this will be the first true next gen MGS this gen, since it's going to be coming out a couple years after 4. Which means it's going to top 4.

At the disagree, lol. MGS Rising will be awesome.

ustayclassyn4g3245d ago

info after the release of peace walker,a game spanning raiden's entire life would def be interesting, but maybe the main story could run with him already being the bamf-cyber-ninja with playable flashbacks..

'if you pair this informational nugget with the promotional shot of Raiden allegedly riding Crying Wolf, a member of the B&B Corps from MGS4'

i must have missed that? O.O
