Sony's Phil Harrison: "I don't think we're arrogant"

Harrison : "There's always going to be a risk when you are market leader for ten years that we start to lose perspective; and we have to make sure that we don't lose perspective. But I don't think we're arrogant, I think we have to recognize that we're in a highly competitive industry and that anything that we say will be eternally editorialized by professionals and consumers alike. So we're always in the spotlight."

The story is too old to be commented.

Well I think you do and I'm not the only one.

What arrogance is this! One is arrogant as hell and then trying to play down the arrogancy! That's SO ARROGANT! ;)

at leas he is not so ... like you.

there was nothing arrogant about Phil's last answer. he just wasn't answering the question the way the journalist wanted him to. thats when the journalist got mad and stopped recording. that, to me, shows a certain degree of unprofessionalism. he should've kept the interview going on, and kept it focused on games and the PS3...ya know, the things gamers SHOULD be most interested in, not PR.

Of course he was biased, it's Joystiq. I enjoy reading Joystiq's stuff, but they are overly cynical on one console all the time. When the new Wii name was announced, every article on there was making fun of the name. It was funny for a day or two, but after that it was just old. Now they are on the hate Sony bandwagon, a while back it was the hate Peter Moore bandwagon. It's always something. I think that Harrison is right, anything that they say right now is put under a magnifying glass and direct quotes are taken out of context. There have been some colossal PR blunders, and one would hope that they're starting to learn what not to say. And his comment off the record, I can completely understand that, and it sounds like something I would say after being asked those fanboyish questions.

i like the way he says "no, i don't think we are arrogant" and then he acts really arrogantly when the tape recorder is shut off.

oh sony. you do make me laugh.

okay, the reporter gets mad because Phil isn't answering the questions the way HE wants him to answer them, abruptly turns the recorder off (true professionalism there) and says, "thats it. thanks." to which Phil responded "well, those were positive questions" in a way that JOYSTIQ says was 'vaguely' sarcastic: and Phil was being arrogant? doesn't Phil have the right to be perturbed by the unwarrented and abrupt ending of the interview at the very least?

this is really sad. the general gaming populace will probably never realize the true potential of the PS3 simply because everyone's hopping on the "Hate Sony" bandwagon because their PR is perceived to be arrogant. who cares if they're nice or arrogant? its not beneficial to any of us either way. just as long as when the day's over i have the system they've promised. so far that looks highly likely.

To talk so much BS and not even have a playable system to show!!!The Bottleneck 3 is a poor excuse to say what they say. mikeeno75796d ago

I don't know if they are arrogant, but i do know Sony has way overpriced products which are damn expensive compared to cheaper ones which do the exact same thing.
