Amazing concept art from a Mortal Kombat reboot pitch

Today some concept art has been released from a Mortal Kombat reboot pitch that looks amazing. Favorite characters like Scorpion, Sonya Blade and Kano all received new designs and storylines that are more in tune with the roots of Mortal Kombat.

Cant wait for the next MK game, i hope it is darker and more violent than ever

Sangria5296d ago

I only hope they totally change the gameplay and animation lag, it's the biggest plague since it became 3D (if we exclude Sub-Zero Mythologies mistake).

joydestroy5296d ago

i agree, i'm loving this concept art. if they went with this, this would be the first MK game i own for sure. very nice.

toaster5296d ago

But MKvsDCU was a disaster. Horrible lighting, horrible gameplay. And where the f*ck was the blood? That's pretty much what defined MK and set it apart from other fighters. Do you see any other fighters on the market where a character's attack is ripping his enemies spinal cord out? NO. I want MK back.
This art looks pretty good though! Going in a darker direction in the MK universe will make the bloody messes of battle even more baddass and over the top.

i don't think Mortal Kombat would be as good as it used to be
i mean the game was CRAAAAAZY with limbs, bones and blood all around

i dont think they can do that now
but there is always hope

ultimolu5296d ago

Holy crap, that would be amazing in an MK game. :o

"i mean the game was CRAAAAAZY with limbs, bones and blood all around

Umm... Have you heard of God of War 3?

MK_Red5296d ago

farhsa2008, you have NO idea how much I agree with what you said.

After the mediocre MKA we were promised a much darker and gorier MK game but instead we got MK vs DC... Seriously!? At least half of MK for me is it's fatality variety and fun. MKA had that repetitive and boring Kreate-A-Fatality instead. As for MK vs DC, MK3's Bability and Friendships were more fun and violent than the crappy fatalities of that T rated crossover.

"Back in the day Mortal Kombat was one of the top games on the market due to the solid combat engine"

ROFLMAO stopped reading there. solid combat engine = clunky stiff animated controls? So this is like the 5th reboot the game is getting. Seriously hope it's worth while this time. Been so utterly disappointed with the last 2 titles.

I was a HUGE fan of MK2 back in the arcades, was never because of the fighting engine but the game was so visually vibrant, the death moves so over the top and I did like the characters but as time has gone by the game has got worse and worse.

Seriously hope it goes back to it's roots and becomes a day 1 that I'm gagging to play. Not getting my hopes up though.

I will admit I do like the concept art for the characters though.

Did you just quote something that doesn't exist anywhere in the article? That gets a solid...FAIL.

Keowrath5296d ago (Edited 5296d ago )

LMAO Why would I change it idiot?

It was copy and pasted. I've just checked the link and the txt has been changed. LOL are you from that website?

ROFL I wonder why they changed it. Apart from the fact that the original text isn't true.

Double Toasted5296d ago

since they went 3d and no digitized sprites...

mbanatech255296d ago

bring back mk trilogy or mk in 2d-3d gameplay

oricon5296d ago

I really hate the story telling and the dialogue in the new mortal kombat games its like watching stargate but worse that said i was wondering if a cel shaded over the top violent mortal kombat game would work.

My favorite is always going to be Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. I know some people didn't like the addition of the run button. But, man that game is burned into my memory from childhood, lol.

Relientk77194d ago

That's the one I played the most as a kid. Fun times gaming on my Sega Genesis, the memories

Terry_B193d ago

Deception, MK2, MK9, MKX ..rest.

MK2 will always be the best in the series. Been playing a lot of MK1 lately though. Definitely enjoying it more than any other NRS era MK game.

Tankbusta40193d ago

1 and 2 were cultural phenomenon's.

specialguest193d ago

I will always have a special place in my memory for MK 1 and 2. You had to be there during that era at the arcades. Martial arts tournament fighting movies were still popular, and MK 1 was exciting. Real life motion captured characters done well (unlike Pit Fighter). A cast of characters we all liked like Bruce Lee(Lui Kang), Van Damme(Johnny Cage), the Lightning god(Raiden) from Big Trouble in Little China, and Ninjas, gotta have Ninjas. Goro was menacing as hell. The MK arcade had some of the best speakers similar to Killer Instinct as you could hear the loud crisp and bassy sound that was distinctly different than other arcades. MK 2 improved greatly on the controls and fighting mechanics
