ARS: Whenever you have a long-lasting series, there are bound to be entries that just don't measure up when compared with their predecessors and successors. It's inevitable: after so many substantial games, there are moments of weakness in just about every franchise. Sometimes we even get repeat performances. Once again, we seem to be at that point, thanks to Armored Core 3 Portable- the weakest member of the Armored Core family since Armored Core: Nine Breaker was released for the PS2.
Gaming Nexus: Believe it or not, there are a lot of PlayStation 2 games I wouldn't mind seeing ported to the PSP. For instance, I would love to play Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 on the go. Obscure gems like Bombastic and Sky Odyssey would really shine on the small screen. And even though we already have Rock Band Unplugged, I definitely would pay money to get either Amplitude or Frequency on the PSP. Of course, there are more than a few PS2 games that don't need to hit Sony's handheld. Among them, From Software's outdated Armored Core 3."
GameCritics:
Given that Armored Core 3 was originally released on the PlayStation 2 and designed entirely to be a console experience, I was surprised at how, well, portable the game turned out. I'm not exaggerating when I say that Armored Core 3 Portable has been the most fulfilling experience I've had on my PlayStation Portable to date. The concept of the game is quite simple. The player takes the role of Raven-defined in the dictionary as a dude with a big ol' robot-who does freelance missions for three competing mega-corporations and uses the cash from successful operations to further customize his or her Armored Core (AC)-said big ol' robot.
Armored Core 3 Portable carries on the mech fighting franchise on the Sony PSP. It was originally released on the PS2 as Armored Core 3 and this is a newly updated version with some additions. There's nothing cooler than 40, 50 even 100 ton human-controlled robots duking it out with huge amounts of firepower now is there?
