LucidLAN: Assassin's Creed 2 Review

LL:

"Just like Leonardo da Vinci, I would have most probably ended up this review by skipping some stuff which frankly though I think that it might not be that important to mention (such as riding of horses, retrieving old artifacts located in catacombs and caves to unlock features in the game or using a machine to fly around Venice). There is one thing that I do need to mention though, and just like Leonardo da Vinci, Ubisoft managed to deploy a true masterpiece. Magnifico!"

I have high expectations for this one. Ubi promised something big, and although AC1 missed the mark, I hope they get it right this time around. I don't want a great idea like this to be executed poorly. It's one of my favorite concepts this gen.

It's definitely gonna be a great game, I got very high expectations.

@foxtheory "AC1 missed the mark"

No it didn't, Assassins Creed 1 was an awesome game. I still play it once in a while.

Assassin's Creed was an amazing game. It was somewhat repetitive, but then again, most games are. I honestly didn't find it all that more repetitive than games like Gears of War or Resistance or Motor Storm, for example. I can't understand how any gamer could not enjoy Assassin's Creed. It is still one of my favorite games this generation (Uncharted 2 being at the top).

Anyway, Assassin's Creed 2 is getting outstandingly positive reviews so far and I am sure they are right. I have it preordered and can't wait until I get it.

Loved the first one and second can only be better.

What I mean by "missed the mark" is that certain aspects like the repetitiveness brought it down. AC1 is still one of my favorite games, no doubt about it.

Montrealien3671d ago

I hate the "it got repetitive" statements when it comes to video games since it can easily be argued that every game gets repetitive in some way or another. However I must say I did not enjoy the first Assassin's creed, don't know why it did not pull me in.

With that said though, AC2 really sucked me in, its such a great game and it should be receiving AAA scores across the board.

I agree with you but there is no way to defend Assassin's Creed 1. I bought it a long time ago but just recently picked it up to finish before I bought 2. While the game is very good and has a lot of potential, it is without a doubt, not counting dungeon crawlers or some rpgs, the most repetitive game ever. From the missions, to the small cutscenes, and what people say, it just the posterchild for repetitiveness. That being said the game is still good but I really had to force myself after the third kill to continue. I am finally on my last kill and am very glad to be almost done with it.

On a side note, Ubisoft did an excellent job in creating a believable, lively world, and I saw enough potential in the first game for me to blindly purchase the second game. It's sitting on my shelf waiting for me to complete my last kill.

You are right dude, on a scale of 1-10, AC1`s repetitive factor is through the roof. However I think I can say with full confidence though that the Ubi Montreal team has addresse many of the issues from the first one.

Unlike most people, I actually enjoyed Assassin’s Creed but I do understand why people were let down by the game. It is looking like Assassin’s Creed 2 has addressed all the previous problems, so it should be even better than the first one. Can’t wait to get this game.

SPOILER ALERT. JUST LOOK AT THE SCORE AND MOVE ON.

diabolicRapier3671d ago

Did you read the review? I thought it was a good review overall and regarding spoilers there is only one mention that happens at the very beginning of the game. And if you notice the reviewer did not give full blown details. Such info is also found on other websites (like Wikipedia) so why are you being so naggy? Not fair to have guys like you just critizing small websites. Keep it up Lucidlan!

@diabolicRapier...

I totally agree with you. Great comment.
