This isn't Final Fantasy. I mean, there was NO need to localize the theme song. Kimi ga iru kara plays in recently released English trailer...I'm in love with that song.
The English voices aren't that bad from what I heard so far, but this theme song may have just turned me off from the English version. My Japanese isn't the best, but you better believe I'll be importing now.
Just need to remember my god damn...kanji again. >_<
Now I actually like the English song but I still think Kimi Ga Iru Kara is a better fit for the game and the series. I still remember Suteki da ne from FFX vividly, yet I can't recall the ending theme of FFXII at all. For some reason Japanese music sticks to me more than English ones in FF. I'm just wondering how difficult it is for Square Enix to throw another mp3 file onto the disc.
Why the hell is there a English song in the US version?
That makes no sense. The only reason a English song should be there is if they did what they did with Kingdom Hearts and have someone do both the Japanese and English song exactly the same just in different languages. They did it TWICE in Kingdom hearts with the help of Utada Hikaru and Namco Bandai did it in Tales of Vesperia with the help of Bonnie Pink. Both times the song sounds exactly the same but just is sung in a different language.
This is really stupid. It's a waste of money on SE's part because NO ONE buying the game wants a English theme song like this.
I agree this doesn't go with Final Fantasy only, because FF is full of mediocre singers with a decent voice, and Leon has power, emotion, and soul to her voice.
Wow pretty disappointed here, Expecting something more classical rather than a pop song. Don't get me wrong here, its an alright song but it doesn't feel like it belongs to Final Fantasy 13.
SE should have went with the more Classical song like Final Fantasy Versus XIII theme song which gives the Final Fantasy Vibe. I mean come on, the Classical music is what really draws me in every Final Fantasy.
Basically she's an overrated talent show winner (think American Idol). She had one average song which stayed at Number 1 in the UK for over 8 weeks and everyone got fed up with.
She was actually Britain's show X-factor. BUT anyways, I don't care what anyone says's, she is an amazing talent, and i'm glad that she is featured in this game :)
FF theme songs have never been great, but I think this is what disappoints me most. I like the song to match the game, not just be a loose licensed one.
I totally agree with you man. The song just doesn't suit the feel of the game. The least they could have done was hire a singer to write a theme song which is actually about the game.
sigh even if i like two leona lewis songs , i'm not enjoy this idea and the song .
Ok ok she got a great voice i concur , but what she does with it is as generic and industrial as it can get . The original japanese song isnt original neither and your standard FF ballad , but it's still miles better .
Squaresoft needs to stop westernizing their stuff at all cost and in the wrong way . Seriously they need the appeal of a english star to sell final fantasy now ?
I'm glad there's no Japanese music in the Us and EU version, I think people are angry because they are used to Japanese music in FF games but the music in X-2 made me want to pull my ears out, I think they are doing it for the better
that would be because FFX-2 wasnt any good . And because japanese music , and more specifically FF music was always better than what was shown in X-2 . FF dont usually have such crappy pop songs
The song might be good, but not for FF. I loved the original Japanese song by Sugawara Sayuri, even if I don't understand a word of it, it's still beautiful. I'm very disappointed with this song, I wish SE would include subtitles in the Japanese version :(
at least they didn't hire some no name cant sing artist off the street. Miss Lewis is amazingly talented and beautiful, yes it's a licensed song but it's far from crappy. if you want the Jap version just import it. or download the song to your HDD and do custom music streaming when the Game opens up!!! simply put. you gamers moan way too much... the japanese theme song is amazing but Blame MS for all this because they had to have the game on there platform. Not square. they have to make it equal on both platform.
I'm for one happy for this. for Leona Lewis to be on a franchise as big as FF means this hick has got some talent. because square doesn't take talentless artist any day.
WOW... they have totally F-ed Up the franchise now.. its quite.. funny actually if i would get the game id have to import it... but i highly doubt i will buy this game now i may wait for FF VS 13 and pray they do not screw it over aswell..
ff8 and ff9 songs actually fit in the ff settings, not to mention they are performed by a Chinese and Japanese which technically make them non-western songs. In contrary the English song by Leon is not bad..but it just doesn't fit with FF.
Because it's not a matter of language but musical preferences ? I just find the original better , i suppose still have a right to prefer it , and not ditch it because some famous face , even if talented , appears , right ?
If people had to understand a language to enjoy songs , and "had to warm up to it" , US and UK music would be pretty confined to their own territory ...
J-pop haters makes me cry as well ... there is crap in every genre last time i checked .
I absolutely love the versus xiii theme but for xiii......what the HELL WAS THAT!! Why cant they just make a theme song similar to: crisis core's http://www.youtube.com/watc... or dissidia's (i know the second one sucks at the beginning but it gets good) http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Hm yes kimi ga iru kara is HELL a lot of ff fealing. Its a lot more traditional to FF main themes then Leona.
My hands is good song. I heard it twice and it sounded ok to me. It could go with FF13 as something different and new. But Im not sure how will I react on this song in game. Who knows maybe it will be super but every old FFFan can put his safe finger on kimi ga iru kara. It is accurate hit on western public that played ff before. And before games had english songs too but it was FFORIGINAL song. it wasnt just tooked from some other source.
dunno. It could be good. But it definitely wouldnt be FF on traditional way.
THE BEST solution would be .... PUT BOTH SONGS IN GAME. and my hands in credit song. and during games moments kimi ga iru kara. or vice versa ... depends which song suits better for credits/moment...
But it would be the best that both songs are here.
i hope this was some kinda joke please someone tell me where i can go and be heard by square they need to hear our cries!!!!!!!!!!!!! we can't play that game with that crappy song on it!!!!!!!!!
Can't believe you people are dissing leona. If you don't think the song fits in FF games then thats fine. Leona is one of the most talented singers in the world. Her voice is easily comparable to that of whitney housten, mariah carey or any other major diva.
the japanese theme song is much better and fits better in ff. Cmon the english song is not bad but it DOESN'T fit the game at all. I am very disappointed. Here's hoping that SE will at least include both songs in the ps3 version since it's using blu-ray.
This is Leona Lewis She's Very talented. Sings very well and looks very good as well . As long I can hear the Japanese version As Well I dont mind.
Yay, now even video gaming is being ruined by Simon Cowell. Good work!
I never heard of Leona Lewis before. I can't say I like the song all that much.
wow that sucks at least write a song for the friggin game.
its not that bad. she has a great voice. but yeah kinda doesnt feel like ff.
