Game Revolution writes: "Another day, another mediocre Naruto game. Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 is the latest in an ever expanding series of games featuring ninjas that dress like road cones and scream out exactly what they're going to do before they actually do it. I'm throwing around the name "announcement fighter" for this genre."
Game Guys writes: "The latest port in the Naruto Shippuden series makes its way to the Nintendo DS. This game is really just a stepping stone since the next game is already out in Japan, and there is already an ad for the new game in this games instruction booklet. It will probably be out in the state's some time next year. Hopefully that game fixes some of the issues this game has."
If you're not a fan of the show, you'll get all you need from Naruto Shippuden: Ninja Destiny 2 in about as much time as it takes you to finish saying its name. The fighting is serviceable for a little while, and the visuals are nice, but the lack of options, the shallow fighting mechanics, and the tedious Story mode keep this game from fighting game fame. There's no compelling reason to spend time mashing buttons on this one.
Ninja Destiny 2 is a good overall fighting game, despite its flaws. However, those who played the first won't be getting much of a new experience. An updated roster and storyline are the only real changes from the original. The fighting system is still simple enough for new players to get into, so those who didn't experience the original can easily get into this sequel without having missed much. For Naruto fans, it's a good addition and DS owners who've been wanting a decent fighter, will be pleased enough with this game.
