More than I've expected due to all the competition this holiday.

Chris3995693d ago (Edited 5693d ago )

And if they "greatest hits" it, which I suspect they will, it could do close to 1 million over it's lifetime. Probably closer to 750K though.

Still, pretty good for an enhanced port.

Edit @ below: That's just over one month's sales, released in one of the highest profile schedules in years. And you were expecting more, really?

Edit 2: For comparison's sake, NG 2 sold about 950K since it's release. NGS 2 has done over 1/3 of that in ONE MONTH (very end of September - October). And if we look to NGS the original, it did around 600K when the PS3 install base was significantly less than it is now (probably by about 10 million users or so). I'm sorry, but you really have no idea what you're talking about.

I wish it did better, considering Ninja Gaiden is my favorite series of all time!!!

toaster5693d ago

I wish they didn't remove the blood though. A buddy got it and I was excited to go play it at his house, i picked up the controller and noticed less blood :(
It really gives the obliteration techniques less flare. Although for the most part the visuals were stunning and the breasts were big as always which isn't a bad thing in this series. The camera is horrible as always but that's part of the experience!

saint_john_paul_ii5693d ago

games that come to a system a year after it launched tend not to sell well. so this is pretty good for a game that has faired well.

if Tecmo were to do a NG3 as a Multiplatform game, both versions of the game will sell on par with each other.

ReviewsArePolitics5693d ago

370K for 1.5 years after the "original sequel" (whatever that's supposed to mean) in a highly competitive environment and a sh1ttier economical environment... well, it's not bad really.

nix5693d ago

i got it for myself. pretty good game. it was freaking tough though. i hate the online part. keeps lagging for me which is surprising because no other games on PS3 gives me this problem.

thank god the game came out before UC2. otherwise i might have hated the graphics.

SaiyanFury5693d ago (Edited 5693d ago )

While I wish it would've done better, it's the game I'm currently enjoying the most in this slew of new games. Although, I'd tie Ratchet & Clank Future 2 with it right up there. Uncharted 2 is an amazing game and I don't deny that, technically superior in both story and characters. But for the raw action, I yield to NGS2 and it's plethora of combat with much diversity. It's these kinds of action games that really draw me. I have zero doubt I'm in the minority, and please feel free to disagree, but I prefer the NGS games to even the magnificent God of War games. The structured combat system that demands you to learn it to survive is golden to me. In order to survive and proliferate, you NEED to learn the various weapons and combos that dispose of enemies the best and fastest. Coupled with a DTS soundtrack, and the slew of extras with the extra levels that come with the women, NGS2 is currently my favourite game. So many things to do and it requires a CRAPLOAD of play to unlock the trophies like the ones which require 1000 kills with a single weapon. That takes a good while. I'll be playing this one for a long time. It might not have sold as well as Uncharted 2, or other Sony exclusive games, but it's still an amazing game for the structured action game fan. :)

Ravage275693d ago

while i don't think it stands at the top with UC2 for me, i agree with you. NGS2 is an incredibly solid action title and is definitely the best in its genre. I enjoyed the gameplay immensely and the coop is frikkin fun when it doesn't lag :)

Really deserves more sales, just like Demon's Souls and R&C

Why o why5693d ago

everything on the sony end just HAS to blow things out of the water. Whatever they do is never enough. ps3 gamers have had 'choice' all year. Many of those other choices have been better than ninja gaiden s. Im surprised its done this well as its looking dated compared to other ps3 exclusives in terms of gameplay and look. Yep ngs2 is the best ninja slasher out there but thats all it is...the best ninja slasher out there.

raztad5693d ago

I got this game. The demo sold it to me. It's still wrapped, I had too many games unfinished. ACiT, Demons Souls, UC2 and some others.

350K is a pretty good number for essentially an old game.

gamingisnotacrime5693d ago

is because i have around 4 games that are less than half played, and that is terrible lol

FACTUAL evidence5693d ago

Still think ms could of kept this title...well not needed...but it's always welcomed, i have NG2 on my 360 anyway.

ABizzel15693d ago

Not bad, I expected numbers in the 200K. There were too many other games to get along with Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PS3, and even though the gameplay is probably the best for an hack and slash, its story just ruins the game for me. Online is its saving grace. LOVE ONLINE.

ThanatosDMC5693d ago

I dont understand why they removed the blood but added the bewbs physics. Did ESRB tell them they could only do one???

Orange5693d ago

@Raztad

if you're getting into Demon's Souls, there's a good chance you'll never find the time to unwrap another game again. i've already decided i can wait on MW2 until it drops ten bucks or so.

Darkstorn5693d ago

It's not quite as good as the first Sigma, but so far it's an amazing game (I just completed that terribly frustrating platforming section in the water area at the beginning of Level 7).

ico925693d ago

well im gonna be honest i had the money to get it but i had to buy uncharted 2 i just had to, i was gonna get it as my next game but then i had to get ratchet and clank ACIT and then MW2 and assasin creede comes along .....so yeah the gaming enviromen is to competitive and those games are just simply better

BISHOP-BRASIL5693d ago

3 words: too much games.

I just finished (platinum trophy) U2 and R&CF:ACIT. I finished but still had to get the platinum for Brütal Legend.

Maybe by next week or the other I'm getting NGS2 and Demon's Souls. Both to be finished before get Assassin's Creed 2 and GOW Collection.

This is becoming my best and worst holiday ever game wise. Sony did great, but I hope next year they try and spread their games along the year, I mean, we don't need GT5, GOW3, Heavy Rain and WKC all in March for god's sake, re-think that. Maybe give GT5 and/or Heavy Rain more one month to polish. My wallet says thank you! LOL

dragunrising5693d ago

Who knows how my Tecmo/Koei wanted it to sell...however it did decent considering what it was up against. Also, why the rush to defend the sales? That would be an admission that the sales ARE weak. I already have the game on 360 so I held off on getting Sigma 2 right away. I hope it becomes a Greatest Hit so I can get it on the cheap.

Gitaroo5693d ago

I hope they weren't expecting it to be a million seller....

Rmagnus5693d ago

might pick it up when and if there's ever a game drought... this year has been plain crazy for gamers. Never expected Bats AA to be that good and now I got dragon age n Super mario bros Wii to look forward to

Budg3tG4m3r5693d ago

How can such a great game flop so hard?

HDgamer5693d ago

How can it flop when Demon souls was a week after it? Too many games came out during that time frame and it has gotten great reviews. pretty much during the holiday season those games will be bought. Not everyone picked up this game or Demon souls, Uncharted 2, Modern warfare 2, AC2, Ratchet and Clank, and other games. Too many games came out, I've bough only 8 on those lists.

hatchimatchi5693d ago

Not all games have to sell millions upon millions to make a profit or to be considered a success.

Look at demon's souls. That game is a huge success for atlas.

Darkstorn5693d ago

@4.0-
370,000 is great for an exclusive that panders to a very hardcore crowd. I think it outsold even Brutal Legend on both consoles (also a great game).
P.S.-love your picture, Operation: Mindcrime is godly.

This list has nine games....

And if these are the "hardest", that's a bit alarming because I'm pretty average and I've managed to 100% more than a third of this list (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Hard Corps Uprising, and Catherine).

Dante's inferno... an excellent GoW inspired game. So sad the sequels will never be.

LoveSpuds965d ago (Edited 965d ago )

I recall enjoying it well enough at the time, but it wasn't a patch on God of War 3 which came out around the same time I think.

I own it and fired it up on my PS3 about 6 months ago and time hadn't been particularly kind to it although it still very much nailed the atmosphere and it is a cool as he'll setting and universe.

Inverno965d ago

Dante's Inferno needs the GOW treatment. No cut camera, with a real hellish depiction of the 9 circles and a story as dark and as serious would be amazing.

Yui_Suzumiya965d ago

Still pretty amazing there was a PSP version that was actually pretty good. I remember playing it 10 years ago. I had the PS3 version when it first came out and loved it.

Hellcat2020965d ago

Ahh the memories of playing Heavenly Sword
Such a amazing experience

LoveSpuds965d ago

Yup, I remember being blown away with Heavenly Sword. I remember holding out hope that they would go back and add trophy support as a incentive to go back and replay the game, but I don't think they ever did?

Yui_Suzumiya965d ago

I couldn't beat the final boss though! Spent several days trying but eventually gave up, lol. Still enjoyed it though.

refocusedman965d ago

heavenly sword was such a short, but amazing game. that game should be prime material to be made into a download only remaster.

YoungKingDoran965d ago

I really enjoyed Castlevania, but struggled to get into it again reattempting it a few years back. I still think it does another of things well; story, presentation, level varietily and art style at least. Gameplay maybe has not stood test of time unfortunately which makes it a chore to get through.

They need to make a true sequel to Ninja Gaiden 2, that was the most satisfying combat I've experienced in a hack n slash game.

micdagoat191999d ago

been playing 1&2 on and off since they were released. I usually will play until I get frustrated then take another year off lol. Nver tried 3 or the 4th one even though they are in my backlog.

Domestupidname1998d ago

I tried to go back to Sigma but good god those controls are just insufferable. Couldn't do it.
