EA says no one can match them in quality

During a conference call, John Schappert of EA detailed how much the quality of their games has improved over the past two years.

When EA came under new management in 2006-2007, the new guy really turned this company around. EA used to be the cancer of the gaming industry but now they have their hands in just about every major multiplatform game out there.

maskedwarrior5372d ago

Do you mean Peter Moore? EA has been far better with him around.

Pandamobile5372d ago

I dunno, but there was a major shift in the management at one point in the last couple years when everything started to turn around.

Saaking5372d ago

Sony matches them and FAR surpasses them.

Tony P5372d ago

That's what they all say. Everyone pretends they're top dog.

I don't really care as long as they pump out good stuff and EA has been doing that.

BRG90005372d ago

Indeed, their turnaround has been impressive. Everything people say about Activision now, they were saying about EA 2 years ago. It used to be the bad guy.

I don't know if I'd agree that they can't be matched in quality, but I can't deny that they have shown huge improvement lately.

Saaking, I think EA is referring to themselves as the best multiplatform publishers. They have to concentrate on multiple consoles and PC. I think they're doing well, considering. Sony only has to focus on its own tech with its own devs. Of course, with that kind of advantage, Sony teams won't be beaten in quality. But games like Bad Company 2 and Dead Space exhibit EAs shift in the kinds of games they're making. They still retained the old habits of making yearly sports titles, but they have to make money somehow. We as gamers didn't do a very good job of supporting EA when they made their new IPs. Neither Dead Space nor Mirror's Edge did very well.

hey John, ever heard of this little company called Sony? >_>

mal_tez925372d ago

Sorry, couldn't resist

Come to think of it, only a couple games I've bought in the last few years had the EA logo on them. There must be a lot of good ones but I don't seem to get many of them

ReservoirDog3165372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

Yeah, they're pretty good now. Let's just hope the same happens with activision huh?

Oh, and the only EA game I'm looking forward to off the top of my head is Mass Effect 2. It's really looking good.

Still haven't bought mw2 by the way. Sticking to my word.

Pandamobile5372d ago

I wouldn't include companies like Sony, Nintendo or MS his statement. He's probably talking about Activision, and THQ and other publishers that aren't associated with a certain piece of hardware.

badz1495372d ago

but EA did come out with Battlefield, Burnout, FIFA, Dead Space, NFS Shift etc. I love all those games!

duplissi5372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

ReservoirDog316-

i said the same thing.... i didnt want to support activision and didnt like the opening scene... but if iw is willing to got "that" far with their opening scene then imagine what the rest of the game is like???

at first i was appalled at what the airport scene contained but now i cant wait to see how they are going to get to you.

i have already bought the game, but since im at my yearly A.T. (annual training- national guard) i dont have my ps3 or xbox with me.... :(

Butt Shingles5372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

Well, um, that's because they OWN every game company. But in all seriousness, they have made some tremendous strides over the years. I applaud them for it.

@Saaking: You need to seriously get your lips off Sony's butthole dude. Every single post you make is praising Sony, while every other company is just garbage. Believe it or not, there is other developers out there that make great games beside Sony. So please, try to use a little variety every once in awhile and quit being such a stereotypical fanboy.

ikkokucrisis5372d ago

I almost died laughing after reading the title!

AKNAA5372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

Capcom to me is still the best and most consistent(360,ps3 games look, play identical) multiplatform developer so far in terms of quality and fun factor.

-RE5
-SFIV
-devil may cry 4
-lost planet 2
-dead rising 2
-Dark void

Syronicus5371d ago

Yeah, that would explain why all of their games get scores like Uncharted 2...

/sarcasm

As for the Peter Moore comment, let's not forget, he only took over the sports portion, not the entire studio house so no, it is not Moores glory for the rise of EA from it's demon self two years ago.

In 360 games maybe...ALL EA PS3 GAMES look like crap and have soooooooooooooo many more glitches.

CernaML5372d ago

Yeah yeah just let it all out. In the meantime I'll be enjoying the Bad Company 2 beta. =]

your mom glitches but i still love her

edwineverready5372d ago

I am happy that ea took a chance on new ip's. Soon they will go back to being the old ea with a sequel every year, because not enough people bought the new ip's. i think it's a shame. i take new ip's over cod 4.1 anytime.

cronaldo75372d ago (Edited 5372d ago )

Quality glitches.
