IGN: Shootanto: Evolutionary Mayhem Review

Shootanto: Evolutionary Mayhem has a wonderfully insane concept and theme, wrapped around some really mindless shoot-it-all gameplay -- so while it won't win you over on the merits of how it plays, it might just be crazy enough in story and presentation to earn your investment of 500 Wii Points. Hudson Entertainment seems pretty proud of its little story of monkeys-versus-lizardmen, too, because a sequel to Shootanto has already made it out of the gates in Japan -- and since this one came across the ocean, you can bet that one will too.

WGR: Shootanto Evolutionary Mayhem Review

At 500 WiiPoints Shootanto isn't that expensive but even at that price WGR can't recommend it when you can have so much more fun with on-rails shooters such as House of the Dead Overkill and Dead Space Extraction on Wii.

MyWii: Shootanto: Evolutionary Mayhem Wiiware Review

MyWii writes: "As developers witness a large majority of Wiiware games flopping and termed "shovelware", they are striving more than ever to innovate. Hudson Soft has done just that with Shootanto: Evolutionary Mayhem, an arcade-style shooter tailored for the light gun or Wii zapper (although it can be played with the Wii remote). It features a range of targets to shoot in a 3d style environment where everything is entirely destructible. Set with arcade style music, you must dodge and shoot projectiles which come from every direction."

Nintendo Life: Shootanto: Evolutionary Mayhem Review

NL writes: "In the grand tradition of so-called "light gun" games, Shootanto uses the pointer function of the Wii remote to task the player with shooting targets onscreen as quickly as possible. Given the strengths of the Wii remote in this regard, the Wii should provide fertile ground for this genre. But is Shootanto the right fertilizer, or is it just another case of a WiiWare game developer flinging poo at anything that moves?"
