Tekken 6 - 2 PS3 vs 360 comparison galleries (Blur mode on vs Blur mode off)

Gameswire has uploaded two Tekken 6 screenshot comparison galleries, comparing the PS3 and 360 versions in the Blur mode on and Blur mode off settings.

The reason being that different techniques are used in the off setting, with the PS3 version using anti-aliasing and the Xbox 360 version using a higher internal resolution downsampled to mimic anti-aliasing effects.

So which versions is better? And in which mode? The result might not be quite what you're expecting...

Nice. Good job at getting the exact same shots on this one.

So, PS3 version slightly better then.

Wakka_3269d ago

Slightly better? How disappointing with the cell and all.

gaffyh3269d ago

Looks exactly the same, except for the colours. The PS3 version seems to have deeper colours, both versions seem jaggy as hell though.

Parapraxis3269d ago

Wakka...are you slightly bitter? How disappointing with your troll skills and all.

Saaking3269d ago

They look almost exactly the same. Maybe the PS3 version looks a little bit better, but overall it should be great on both consoles.

umair_s513269d ago

I feel it got scaled back for 360

Skizelli3269d ago

I haven't been impressed with a Tekken game on console since Tekken 3 on PSX.

Still not impressed.

The 360 version doesnt have as many smooth transitions between light and dark and less definition in shadowed and lit areas. This could be for a number of reasons including the way the images were captured.

Either way it's an extremely ugly game and should not be taken as a reflection of either machine's capabilties.

Isn't that weird?

- The article states that the 360 renders at 768p, then scales this output BACK to 720p, but without AA
- The article states that the ps3 renders at 576p, but with AA.
- The author then (subjectively) states that 576p (with AA) looks better than 768p (without AA).

Personally, I can't tell the difference, graphically, however loading times are much worse on ps3, as shown in the recent LOT article: but this is beside the issue at hand.

I am just reminded that this phenomenon of reduced resolution, is exactly what happened to Halo3, which was reduced from 720p to 640p to accommodate visual effects like HDR lighting and other visual game enhancing features.

At the time, fanboys jumped on the 'sub-HD' Halo3 resolution bandwagon with derision and negativity, even though the net effect was to arguably improve the game.

It's weird that the same derisive fanboys are not jumping on exactly the same situation for ps3 tekken6, which is being forced to run at a lower resolution to include AA.

Who can respond intelligently to my observation?

Zeevious3268d ago (Edited 3268d ago )

I'm just not going to.

Trust what looks best to your eyes.
Photoshop counts pixels. Gamers don't.

commodore643268d ago (Edited 3268d ago )

lol.... sys 64738!

That's the commodore64 system reset command...
I even remember using it!

In any case, I'm a gamer AND I count pixels.
What do you make of that?
Doesn't compute, huh?

Funny how I made a valid observation and garnered multiple disagrees, yet did not elicit a single intelligent response?

Gotta love N4g!

DelbertGrady3268d ago

Hey now! They said in the article that the PS3 version looks slightly better. Who are we to question their opinion? They must be telling the truth since they are journalists, right? This started off as a pro PS3 cheerleading contest. Don't spoil the fun with facts.

commodore643268d ago (Edited 3268d ago )

Sorry Soda.
I'll shut up now, then.

No-one seems to like it when I point out the facts.

They look the same but the ps3 version wins because the controller its better for this type of game.
I have both ps3 and xbox360 and i have trouble to chose the version i like to buy but i finally chose the xbox360 only because i have much more friends in live than psn.

i didn't see a difference in what they pointed out, i did see a difference in the smoothness of the shadows.

they need to grab more shots.

NateNater3269d ago

I really don't see that much of a difference at all

Notice how the PS3 version has more vibrant colour. The green grass and the face details are more sharper

Its the last two pictures if you cant access the link

ps3hasnogamess3269d ago (Edited 3269d ago )

Xbox360 version is much more brighter and have better textures anti-aliasing.

X360 loads a little faster too...

Dannehkins3269d ago

Is a sense of maturity beyond you? It seems to be judging from your username and I really fail to see how anyone could take your opinions seriously.

Sorry, but a name like 'ps3hasnogames' is just a bit pathetic.

FailureRate543269d ago (Edited 3269d ago )

Bttter Anti-Aliasing??

Are you stupid??

On PS3 Version if you disable the Blur, image will recive a 2xAA, XFLOP VERSION NO!

Oddly, not what you'd expect. While they do look practically identical (good, considering they use different techniques to reach an end result), the PS3 version looks slightly better in terms of graphical fidelity and detail, despite the 360's resolution boost. Very odd indeed, so the 360 is losing something somewhere.

Idiot? No you are Gaydiot.

The PS3 version does look more vibrant so to me that looks more better
