Ubisoft First Half Sales Down 52 Per Cent

Edge writes: "Ubisoft has reported its financial results for the six months ended September 30, with sales during the period down 52 per cent year-on-year to 166 million.

Due to the sharp decrease in sales, the company expects to report an operating loss of around 80 million for the first half, compared with an operating income of 33 million during the first six months of 2008-09."

That title screams "Splinter Cell coming to the PS3 due to low revenue".

Yep

i'll wait to get this game on my PS3
i already got to finish / yet to get some other PS3 AAA titles

lol
so much games and no time
i'll add it to my list
just thinking of it
i almost got a game for each month for the next 6 montes or so

on topic
thats bad but ubisoft we'll get their money back
because all their games are multiplats
so they can get the most out of it

by the way i love ubisoft

That percentage reminds of another number. Anyways, ACII should help out and SCC next year also. I'm sure Ubisoft will port SCC over to PS3, there's just ZERO reasons to stay exclusive unless MS hands over a lot of cash.

It's unfortunate that Ubisoft has lost money, but they should learn to diversify their console offerings a bit more. Splinter Cell on the PS3!

Outside of Splinter Cell Conviction, what exactly are Ubi holding back on? Ubi addressed their issue for the first half with this statement, "As expected, in the first half of fiscal 2009-10 the market was very difficult both for Nintendo DS games and for our back-catalogue titles, with few new releases,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. “The second half of the year should be significantly more favorable with a return to strong growth and profitability."

Ubi is also the publisher of Haze which is a much better game then people give it credit for.

Good time to capitalize on this with a Splinter Cell Conviction PS3 port. MS exclusives are dropping like flies these days. They need to stop paying for stupid crap like exclusive ADVERTISING of a MUTIPLATFORM game like MW2 and get there heads in the game if they want to compete.

deadreckoning6663271d ago

LOL, they have no choice! If Assassins Creed 2 sells more PS3, its a done deal.

xoxideu3271d ago

I think they already are.. somehow..

badz1493271d ago

it's just that there were no big games by them in the first 6 month! what are you guys expecting?

morganfell3271d ago

At POGB, agreed. I smell Splinter Cell on the PS3 already...

Hopefully Assasins Creed 2 will turn that frown upside-down.

Saaking3271d ago

make sure you beta test SCC correctly bots. Make suggestions and report any problems for the SUPERIOR PS3 version.

deadreckoning6663271d ago (Edited 3271d ago )

HAHAHAHA..as crazy as that may sound, that may ACTUALLY be the case. I give it 6 months. It'll happen even faster if the PS3 outsells the 360 this year.

Cyrus3653271d ago

Well all of Ubisoft big chips are either in Q4, or next quarter, so it's no wonder they are down now...

UBISOFT has suffered an RROD!

:)

Seriously UBI...make games for ALL systems and you won't have these wild swings in revenue.
