Famitsu has published their estimates of the latest hardware sales figures from Japan, which includes the launch of the PSPgo.
Wow. It looks like Bayonetta and Tekken 6 are system sellers in Japan.
Good sales for the PSP. It outsold the DSi and DSL combined. Add in the PSPGO sales (which are slighlty lower then expected I presume but not entirely poor by any means considering overlal hardware sales this week) and PSP has done well. And as you say, Bayonetta and T6 have helped the PS3 that's for sure.
Yeah, not a huge bump with the PSPgo, but honestly, I don't even think Sony expected it would cause that much of an increase in sales. It's a nice revision (if ppl want to go all-digital) but it's certainly no PSP2, and hopefully Sony realizes that as soon as they can they need to get the next PSP model out. They'll have to wait for a while now however to avoid consumer backlash. I'd expect them to be aiming for winter of next year for a true PSP successor. Just a guess though.
Very good numbers for PSP, but strange that the older hardware is selling more than the newer PSPgo. I would have thought it would be very popular in Japan. PS3 even received a significant bump, but I'll wait for Media Create, because Famitsu have been wrong before with their numbers.
GO SONY, GO SONY, BEAT NINTENDO, BEAT NINTENDO. Sorry guys , but finally someone beat ALL of Nintendo. PS3 beat Wii, DS, and DSi. PSP/ PSP Go beat all of Nintendo combined. Congrats Sony.
Tekken 6 is likely to be the system seller. I doubt Bayoneta is selling PS3s considering the PS3 got, arguably, the inferior version.
But PS2 couldn't beat 360 /sarc
@ aBizzel Have you just jizzed? I guess people are just into different things....
Haha not. Finally the other consoles (at least the PS3) are getting their shine. Nintendo let me down with the Wii, and MS is starting to drop the ball with exclusives (I understand why MS can't hang they don't have a ton of 1st party, but Nintendo does). The Wii had it's time to shine, but now it's time for someone else, and the PS3 is it. @1.6 Haha that's not nice. 360 is finished in Japan, but they tried. Natal is it for them.
PS3 didn't beat the DS and the DSi. DS is still DS. However I think the PS3 will soon beat the DS very very soon. Sales are effing strong for PS3 in Japan, I never would expect them to be this high. Wii... well we know the story by now =]
PSP – 42,000 PS3 – 37,000 DSi – 36,000 PSPgo – 28,000 Wii – 27,000 Xbox 360 – 4,800 DSL – 4,400 PS2 – 2,700
I think they'll sell 110,000 to 130,000 PS3s in Japan this month and those are some good numbers!
Will be interesting to see how Media Create's data compares.
Both PSP and PS3 are selling great. I guess Persona 3 portable pushed the PSP over the DS.
PSP – 42,000 PS3 – 37,000 DSi – 36,000 PSPgo – 28,000 Wii – 27,000 Xbox 360 – 4,800 DSL – 4,400 PS2 – 2,700 look at 360. DAMN!!!! http://img.gamespot.com/gam...
bubble for u. ps3 is on a killing streak world wide. good for gamers, developers and Sony, they truly deserve it after all the bashing they got and crappy ports from third party devs and all the bias in the media against them and their exclusives. but sony will prevail on top of all those bias people and who dont like it can smash his head on the wall. Ps3 have a every high chance to become like a ps2 in the coming years and even better since it pirate free.
+ PS3 – 37,000 ;-P ;-P ;-P Xbox 360 – 4,800 ;-D ;-D ;-D FAIL HARD!!! ;-D I'm glad the PS3 has stuck 2 fingers up at the Haters on the internet!!! ;-D I'm sticking 1 finger up to all the haters on these internet site as i type!!! ;-D + Bubbles4the 2 above me;)
That's embarrassing for the 360. They might as well gave the PS3 all the rpgs.
bubble for you and unltimolu
Its great to see that the Playstation brand are doing so great in Japan and anywhere really as thay have been working very hard to get these new exclusives out and the future ones to, I think they deerve it as they seem to be putting more effort into the gaming indusry more than its competitors, I havnt actually got a ps3 yet however i intend to in the near future.
i totally agree with u, they worked so hard and spend so much and lost so much for us gamers while others were milking their customers. i also dont have ps3 yet, but as soon as i get a job i will get one, i hope i find a job so soon, cant wait to play MGS4,uncharted 2, motorstorm 2, deamons soul, valkyrie chronicles etc
Seriously, investing in a PS3 is a very good idea. It really offers a lot for its price and the game library is incredible, not mentioning the fact that most of the BIG guns(GOW3,GT5,FFVS,TM...) have yet to fire ^^
I wish the both of you luck as well. I'm going to be buying Ratchet, Uncharted and AC2. Can't wait. =]
is on fire ! next month ff 13 Oo Holy S**t i expect more than 100k ps3 sold on FF13 launch.
more like 500k
^100K???? more like 500K
Its good that the PS3 slim has been able to stabilize in the 30k-40k range since its introduction. I honestly expected it to drop back into the 10k to 15k range as it has done in the past.
wow psp and ps3 what a boost in japan sales.next month with FFXIII release skyrocket sales for ps3.
Wow Xbox is doing great!
Wii looks like it's heading for a crash an burn soon
Perhaps, although we'll have to see if New Super Mario Bros. Wii helps sales.
Sony - 60% Nintendo - 37.5% Microsoft - 2.5% The Slim $299 PS3 is turning this gen on its head, at least in Japan, but that's just the start.... go Sony..... 360 is dead in Japan once FF13 drops in Japan, once the game becomes available in the region there will be no reason to own a 360 in Japan. Nintendo should be doing better, they just had a price cut, the PS3 had a price cut 2 months ago and its out selling the Wii still.
this was a good week for sony
Wow, another solid week for sony. Isn't 37k higher than the last 2 weeks?
yep. We are officially in the holiday season so sales should increase week by week up till xmas.
i hope Wii fails
It should be noted that the PSPGO was released on 11/1. So 28k in 1 day is quite impressive. December 17, 2009....Judgement Day
Nice to see the PS brand finally gettin ahead of steam so to speak in japan.
100 and something thousand a week for the Playstation division. It can't be bad :)
