Diehard GameFAN - Adventures To Go! Review (PSP)

Although both Natsume and Gamestop have done a good job limiting gamers' access to actually purchasing this obscure little game, once you manage to track it down you'll have a delightful, if shallow RPG that shakes the foundations of a Roguelike game. The biggest downside to the game is the fact there is little to no plot, and when there is, you'll hate every character in the game for being either bi-polar or a total jerk without any redeeming qualities. However, the highly innovative gameplay that combines Roguelike RPGs, tactical RPGs, and the concept of Action Points more than make up for this. It all depends on if you play RPG's for the story or gameplay. If it's the former, don't bother with this. If it's for the latter, you'll find one of the most interesting fusion engines released this generation.

GameZone: Adventures To Go Review

GameZone writes; "The life of a fantasy RPG hero is hard work. Forget having to fight horrific beasts and save the world from megalomaniacal wizards, and just consider the fact that they travel to every single location on their planet – usually on foot, no less. It's a wonder they've even got the energy to save the world, given that they've just hoofed it across three continents! Wouldn't it be simpler if a hero could quest through forests, mountains, caves, and dungeons, all without even having to leave their home town? Adventures to Go! gives us just that: an RPG where every quest is custom built to your specifications."

RPGamer: Adventures To Go Review

In the end, AtG is not for most people. With so many solid titles being released around the same time, it may not even be for many people. However, for those looking to break into the genre and the TRPG fans who can't get enough, as well as those looking for a game that isn't the standard "save the world, win the girl" story will likely find a breath of fresh air in store here.

If a player approaches the title not looking for game of the year material but instead seeking something to be played in bite-size portions on the go, then it may be in that person's interest to seek a purchase. It's sad to see a game whose concept has a lot of potential but doesn't follow through with a better presentation.

IGN: Adventures to Go Review

Adventures to Go has some good ideas, such as generating your quests through building blocks in hopes of satisfying job requirements. But adventuring itself is slow – you walk around and fight some monsters while keeping an eye out for treasures and magical monoliths. The battle scenes offer nothing new either. You spend some AP to move, the monsters move. You spend so AP to attack, the monsters attack. It's too bad that the execution just did not keep up with the concept or the game's lively atmosphere.
