"Now that the lid has been lifted on the official box art cover for the Japanese version of Square-Enix's upcoming RPG Final Fantasy XIII, we want to know your thoughts on it. Were you expecting this basic version?"
Theres alot of white and space, I kinda wish there was more to it
Don't worry, the US box art will have some more color and less sophistication.
I'm not impressed with the game itself. It could have been so much more, but we'll never see it reach it's potential. I am, however, interested in FFvXIII.
No doubt an american wrote this, cause everyone in EU/PAL(Nippon aswell?) want the cover this way and no other way, don't go changing something that doesn't need to be changed. I'm glad that the JP version has this cover as it pretty much solidifies that the PAL/EU version will have the same cover.
If the word "enix" was not present anywhere on the box at all.
I like it
I'm sorry but the characters on FFXIII suck. I wouldn't want to see any of them on the cover.
I'd prefer it to be simple, but when it comes to EU/US, they will change this to have a picture on it.
impressed with what? Box Art of the game itself? I'm expecting more than anyone is thinking about the game, is not enough with being better than XII lol
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. -Leonardo Da Vinci
I really like the box art. so simple.
it could have been better. it almost seems half asses or something you would see at gameslut err....gamestop if you were to be looking at the pre order shelf. im actually surprised by the amount of people who really like this somewhat blank & bland look. looking back at previous FF covers make it really seem disappointing to me. at least have a picture of lightning or a backdrop of the world as the background. C'mon SE, you make a fantastic looking game with a rich environment and a cast of colorful characters and you cant even splash a little color on the cover...come on. if this was the special edition then i wouldn't care but this is going to be on the shelves anywhere and everywhere games are sold....Come On!
You'r joking right (It's more or less tradition and expected)? Oh well, to each his own. Every FF uses this cover design unless your American, please tell me we didn't have this discussion with FF12. Personally I have always like the way the covers are done, simple and stylish and I have no trouble picking them out when they are on the store shelves or in my own video game collection for that reason.
I'm not a FF player, in fact I've never played one to completion (or even close), but isn't this generally what all the cases have looked like? Somewhat of a tradition?
from what i remember this has always been the style for the title art, but the actual game cases vary and usu contain the protagonist(s) of the story
Only in the US has the boxart had pictures of the protagonist. In Europe and Japan it has always been a plain white box with the logo like this.
Yes, I am impressed. I love the old traditional style. Amano's artwork is amazing
Superior version on Ps3..
the open zone is over there ---------->
Huh? It's like it's always been :p I like it, wouldn't want it to change, it's classy :D
sorry, we are not xbots, we don't easily get impressed.
I'm still waiting to see the xbox360 box with 4/5 dvds inside, mhhh in a box 30x30x30 there's too much space and white to fill.
yea i like cuz in the uk all the final fantasy games have a basic cover like that, so it really goes with the final fantasy collection u own.
thats good box art. It kind of says "its whats in the box thats important". Though, to be honest I don't give the slightest damn about the new ff, as soon as I heard it had been dumbed down for xbox I stopped caring. Besides, Lost Odyssey was the true ff 13, it has more of the original devs from the good old days
Lol... What a fanboy remark. I thought the Gamer Zone left no room for teenage gibberish like this?
the box art is fine. do people wanna play the game or stare at the box art.
People like pretty things but would you really not buy it because of the box art? I know it's all part of marketing to the consumer but they could put it in a brown paper bag and I'd still buy it.
lol i agree
Japan always has the plain simple look. Kinda boring for my taste but meh.
I would be impressed if the japanese version had english language on it...
Ehm, stupid article...The Japanese Box art is always this simple...
Mh... what's different from other FF games? Here in Europe all of them were white with different image behind the title. I've never complained (even if the US version of the saga were always super power, with the images and all), so i won't complain for FF XIII neither. Simple. And tbh i prefer a super game than a super cover (and i really hope FF isn't super, i want it EPIC).
but I'm more than satisfied with it.
that's not final box art. check this. http://www.play-asia.com/pa...
That picture is several weeks old, nice try.
Wait a sec I know that picture. MGL you're on the atlus forum aren't you? You have demon's souls
well you'll see when it's release in japan. i think plain box art isn't final box art of japan version :) @Name um nope i don't have but i'm planning to buy it before christmas :)
Oh I see. Someone has your pic on that forum.
The question should be: "Are final fantasy fans impressed?"
I'm fine with it. As that's how it's always been here in UK/EU. White background and logo. Same with Japan. It's only in America that the boxart is changed and it's always some crappy movie poster looking character spread.
as ugly as it is, that is how ff1-8 maybe even 9 were lol, sept for the greatest hits versions ofcourse, i like the art stuff lol
dead rising, lost planet, star ocean, mass effect the list is endless, its down to first party titles which is where sony invested and ms got rid of.
Looks fine to me. I could care less about freakin box art. Good grief.
never knew a boxart was such a big deal. I could care less either way.
Superb and exactly what it should be!
it should be a new game for the ps3 should start off plain
I'm for it.
