Wired Review: DJ Hero Celebrates Malleability of Music

Guitar Hero has always displayed a certain reverence toward music. Players can fail if they don't re-create guitar gods' every hammer-on and power chord with complete accuracy.

DJ Hero, the new music game from Activision for the Xbox 360 (reviewed), PlayStation 3, Wii and PlayStation 2, has no such qualms. The game isn't about slavish devotion to original recordings. It's about the power of the DJ to transform.

In fact, the music in DJ Hero isn't even songs so much as mashups - two tracks laid parallel, then chopped and screwed with into a new, frequently lively whole. The best of the bunch is a fusion of Daft Punk (pictured, top) and Queen that melds two anthems into one: "We Will Robot Rock You."

The story is too old to be commented.
