Nintendo Life: Gravitronix Review

The long and short of it is that anybody looking for a fun multiplayer experience already has dozens of stronger examples to choose from, and anybody who isn't would be wise not to make an exception for Gravitronix. Nintendo Life cannot recommend this shabby excuse for a game to you in good conscience.

Spawn Kill: Gravitronix PAX East Hands-on

Stephanie Palermo of Spawn Kill writes: Though Gravitronix is one of the few enjoyable eight player games I can think of on the Wii, at PAX only four player play was being demoed. It actually was released in October of 2009, but it's one of those underexposed titles that deserves to see the light. As a skeptic more often than not of WiiWare games available, once I saw past the attractive character design of the game and realized it was a Wii game, I let my curiosity take control. Gravitronix turned out to be one of those super addictive games that channel that extremely competitive nature inside of all of us, no matter how deep it hides.

The Gamers Temple: Gravitronix Review

The Gamers Temple writes: "Gravitronix is essentially a version of the old Atari game Warlords … a slower, harder to control version, that is. One to four players are given one quadrant of a circular playing area and are tasked with protecting their area of the circle while attacking the areas belonging to the AI or other players (the game supports up to eight players at a time, but once you get past four players the players start doubling up and sharing quadrants). The play area is filled with bouncing objects that move and interact with each other as if the circle was a zero-g environment, and players attempt to use those objects to first break through the shields protecting other players' quadrants and then, once that's done, to damage the other players directly."

IGN: Gravitronix Review

You know those "view the credits" options that you'll sometimes see in games? The ones tucked away on some dark corner of the main menu, always ignored, never actually looked at? IGN looked at this one -- and Medaverse is going to be all right. The in-jokes, the community support and the baby birth announcements found in there point to a young team of unified developers, having a blast working together and truly grateful to get to be in the business of making games.

Gravitronix, the team's debut effort for WiiWare, isn't amazing -- but they have the feeling that several of the people who worked on it are.
