Nearly a year after its release, Fallout 3 is back. Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition is now available for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360.
Did the 3-for-1 deal at EB Games. Traded in Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Rainbow Six Vegas, all three are probably worth less than half of this game, so it's win/win for me! Played this game a couple of times in the past, just didn't wanna download DLC, so I got this. Good times.
How's the load... hows the glitches... Don't worry. We all lost on this pill of sh!t.
Loading is nothing, takes a lot less time than say Oblivion, and is less frequent. No glitches found so far, no freezing.
I'm probably going to by this, as long as it's relatively bug-free. Last time I played this game I couldn't even change my haircut due to a bug. Weak!
That's a helluva deal...
Definitely buying this!
I bought it at the same time as Uncharted 2. Definitely a blast to play not to mention having all DLCs is a sweet deal.
Is the DLC on the disc or does it come with download vouchers?
@5.1 It's on the disc itself, no vouchers.
Definitely worth picking this up if you haven't downloaded any of the packs. Be warned Point Lookout is very buggy had huge troubles with it (PS3)
I know what you mean. It took me 5 hours to complete and it must of crashed at least 15 times. It seems to happen in the town more often than anywhere else.
Haley's Hardware area of the map was a no go area for myself. It's testament to how good the game is still wanting to play it even with crippling bugs.
I am not a big fan of the game but once I finish the space ship I probably won't play the game again.
I didn't have any freezes or notice any bugs in Mothership Zeta (shock!!) but i didn't particulary enjoy it. Maybe i just like the bugs and not the game :D Ah well bring on uncharted 2
I've actually wanted to pick this up on PS3 instead of 360, but I remember that the previous one didn't perform as well. Does it do better this time around?
Is calling it "game of the Year edition" sort of a self proclamation or did it actually get some awards to that effect?
It won GOTY from GDC and also got the IAA for RPGOTY. And lots of others from various publications in gaming press. Basically, they can call it a GOTY accurately.
Well, there's never a real undisputed Game of the Year considering how many publications there are out there (some genre-specific, some platform-specific, etc). According to Bethesda, they racked up a few dozen GOTY awards though.
Thanks for clarifying.
with demon souls and UC2 out NOW, why would anyone pay full price for this? i won't. i'll pick it up if it ever drops to under 25 dollars.......and only if i don't have any newer games to play.
Maybe some people like Fallout games and first person western style RPGS instead of Demon's Souls. I own Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, and I'm still buying Fallout 3
but, i just don't feel re-releasing a game with the dlc on the disc makes it worth full price. i could see 39.99 dollars but no more.
goty edition of fallout 3 would have to be the best value for money game ever, sooo long. The good part is, is that unlike the ff series, the whole game isn't grindfest
I have downloaded the Pitt, Broken Steen and Point Lookout all of which are very buggy and none of which have yet received any patches. So if you own the PS3 version or are planning on buying it wait until a patch has been released.
I would be surpised if they release any further patches. After looking at the fallout wikia i believe x360 and pc have got a fair share of bugs (100's) that have never been sorted out.
They are soo buggy it has affected the frame-rate, freezing and texture pop in, screen going black for no reason, lighting issues etc, its the buggiest game I have played all year. This is annoying since I didn't run into that many issues with the game when it came out (except the feezing when people logged on/off PSN).
Be getting this for christmas, for teh DLC :)
Was first one at my local bestbuy at 10 AM picking up this copy. Had to get it ASAP. Been itching to destroy some deathclaws. Also, the slipcase package is awesome!
Sold my copy inorder to buy this one. But with Uncharted 2 getting all my love right now, Fallout 3 GOTY will have to wait
Sold mine too haha but UNCHARTED can wait for me
But might have to wait till next month...still have oblivion to play through 1st! =D
I hear ya. I'm in the same boat. Started Oblivion about 2 months back and put it on hold to play some newer games. I feel kind of guilty jumping into Fallout 3 before getting through Oblivion. The game is just soooo long, but entertaining none the less.
picked it up yesterday Def worth it. I had owned fallout earlier but had sold it at some point. Glad to have it back in my collection
As a heads up Canadians are having problems using their old save files if they bought the GOTY edition. Theres region coding issues on the files if you bought a straight English version of the original fallout 3, then bought a bilingual version of the GOTY. This works vice versa as well, and you wont be able to use you old save files. This has not be addressed by Bathesda yet...hopefully if your like me and live in Canada, they will patch this soon.
Want/need and am OUT THE DOOR TO BUY IT FOR THE PS3. .....right noooooooow!
FREEZING/PERFORMANCE ISSUES: 1. Problems may arise if you have been playing the game for an extended period of time. Let the system cool down, then try running the game. 2. Please make sure that you have the most recent update for your PS3 console. 3. Remove the game data from the Playstation 3 Hard Drive. Files in the Game Data Utility folder, are saved settings for a game (i.e., controller preferences, brightness settings, etc.). These steps will NOT delete your save games. To remove a game data file from the PLAYSTATION 3: a. In the XMB home menu, go to (Game) > [Game Data Utility]. Important: Make sure you select [Game Data Utility]. Do NOT select [Saved Data Utility], as this will delete all of your saved games files. b. Highlight the game data utility file (i.e., name of a particular game you have been playing) you wish to delete. c. Press the button and select [Delete]. d. Highlight "Yes" and press the button to confirm the deletion. e. A message indicating the file is being deleted will appear. f. A "Delete completed." message will appear once the file has been successfully deleted. 4. Try running it from another console. If the game works properly on another system, you may want to contact Sony to find out more about getting your PlayStation 3 serviced. If the game fails to run on multiple consoles, contact our Technical Support representatives for further assistance. DISC READ ISSUES: 1. Remove the disc and reinsert it. 2. Insert the game with the label side up. 3. Check whether the disc is scratched or dirty. If dirty, wipe it gently with a soft cloth. 4. Make sure the disc has not been exposed to high temperatures, high humidity or direct sunlight. When discs will not be used for an extended period of time, store them in their cases. Stacking uncased discs or storing them at an angle can cause them to warp. 5. Try running it from another console. If the game works properly on another system, you may want to contact Sony to find out more about getting your PlayStation 3 serviced. If the game fails to run on multiple consoles, contact our Technical Support representatives for further assistance. DISPLAY ISSUES: 1. Check that the input mode of the TV is appropriate for the connector in use on the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system. 2. There may be a problem with the cable in use. Try using another cable that is compatible with the PLAYSTATION 3. 3. If the video output settings on the PLAYSTATION 3 do not match those of the cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes blank, turn off the system. Then, with only the PLAYSTATION 3 and the TV connected, touch the system's power button for more than 5 seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution. 4. The content may be of a format that is not supported by the system. Content of types not supported by the system will not be recognized. For information on supported formats, refer to the online user's guide. CONTROLLER ISSUES 1. Make sure all peripherals (controllers, memory cards, etc) connected to the PlayStation 3 are certified Sony products. This can be determined by looking at the products and ensuring that they have the word Sony on them. Even controllers that may carry the PlayStation 3 logo may not be certified Sony products. Using non-Sony products are not guaranteed by Sony to work with all PlayStation 3 games. You see, its our Fault.
