It's fun to have another installment in the Final Fight series made available through the Virtual Console, but the arrival of Final Fight 2 in the Wii Shop just triggers memories of how Capcom let down its fans with the first Final Fight back on the SNES -- particularly since this sequel still didn't give them Guy, even though the plot is all about him. And even if you're not particularly concerned with all that and are just wanting to know what the game plays like, well, it's kind of disappointing there too -- two-player co-op has been restored and there are three different people to choose from, but the brawling action is really straightforward and kind of bland.

"Final Fight Original Sound Collection marks a very important release for fans of Capcom’s popular beat-em-up franchise. City Connection and Clarice Disc’s robust, six-disc double jewel case sports five CDs of music containing nearly every variation of the series’ tunes, a majority of which have never received a legitimate release before." - Patrick Kulikowski
This month, I’ve been hands on with a genre that is now almost extinct: the scrolling beat-’em-up. 8 and 16-bit consoles were home to the best.
