BlendGames: Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga Review

BlendGames writes: "More so than any other genre, I think action RPGS are decidedly either really, really good, or really, really awful, and I think this all lends itself to the idea of actually stomping through a 30 hour plus adventure and feeling that you're either satisfied with your quest or that you've wasted your time entirely. Well, sad to say as it is, but Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga, a Wii exclusive that's spawned from a couple of PSP games, is definitely the latter, combining a boring ass story, drab, clumsy graphics, and an outlandishly bad combat system that is so horrible that it feels like I've created a time machine and traveled back to 1998 when Nintendo was discussing the combat controls of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time before they actually got it right."

To be honest, I would give it roughly around the same score ( Maybe a 3/5 or 3.5/5? ), Played the PSP versions, and got this version based on the name alone. It's a lot different than what I've come to expect actually. In some ways some of the battles rank up to Demon's Souls difficulty (no joke). I know one boss battle lasted me over 45 minutes only because I could not really attack him.

Honestly it can be a fun game ( I have yet to try the online yet though ), but so far it's an okay game. I was playing it before Demon's Souls, now I can't get back into it really; but I want to :).

Looking for a JRPG that's a bit different? Valhalla Knights series | Digitally Downloaded

This series is destined to be quickly forgotten in the west (it actually has a strong niche in Japan), which is a pity, because there’s a lot to like about these games. They're not for everyone, but JRPG fans looking for something a little different would do well to try these out.
