Neocrisis: We've all seen them. The Gears Of War 2 and Halo 3 ads, right?, but how many Infamous, Killzone 2, or Ratchet and Clank ads. Trust me their aren't may around, and the list could go on. It could span the length of this entire article.
Spend money on games vs Spend money on advertising Yeah.
I guess that's really the point, advertising is rather invalid to people like us, being avid followers of the industry and checking sites like this regularly, we're likely to know about games well before either would consider advertising them publicly. But if you take the debate for what it is, I have to say Sony really lacked advertisement early on in the PS3s life, they're only just getting around to it now, or at least it seems. Although, with their large fanbase and heavy losses on the tech I guess they were hoping it would somewhat sell itself, which it did, as soon as some money began to roll in, they're bound to start the push to attract people. MS being a rather fledgling company in the industry have had to push push push.
More money for Games is better, but sometimes Sony have to make advertising for GEMS like UC2 and promote awesome games + hardware, that's the difference between Sony and M$, Sony promote in a short way and think in a long term while M$ advertise as hell for marcket share, this strategy worked before PS3 slim but from now on is really difficult for M$ that's why we going to see more price cuts for the xbox 360 but at the same time this practice don't ensure any success
I have not even seen a tv ad for uc2 yet.
Where do you live? I live in the UK and don't watch much TV but I've seen tons of adverts for UC2. I'm actually really surprised with the amount I've seen considering Sonys past record.
i live in new york state, 30min from city have yet to see a UC2 com.
If you really think about it, Sony never was that big of a market pusher. The systems, up to this point, has always sold themselves, and as a result never really had the need to push in the marketing department. This will be one of the first hurdles Sony is now facing in that it is the first generation that Sony has ever faced an opponent that is willing to push its product harder than what Sony is used to, or needed to for that matter. Sony just needs to adjust their strategy accordingly.
