10 Reasons to Save Your Money and NOT Buy a PSP Go

It is. For reason that you can get a PSP 3000 for much cheaper. I personally can't justify a £250 purchase for something I can't play my UMD's on and would have to buy the games from PSN store at a far more expensive price. I recently bought Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on the PSP for £15 on amazon. If downloaded it from the PS Store, it would of cost me £25.

There is no justification for having one or even buying one when theres a cheaper model on the market that works just as well.

I love how people are complaining about things that would not work even if they are wanted.

Touchscreen? None of the other PSP's have that so seeing as this isn't the PSP 2 it makes no sense to do that.

No 2nd analog nub? You wanna know why? because the old PSP's don't have one and if a Dev takes advantage of that then old PSP users are screwed unless the devs come up with two completely different control methods which is stupid and they should not have to waste time doing so.

The mini's are a rip off? Pure opinion and if they really are what about the Iphone users hyping that platform as the next big thing in gaming?

All BS. If you don't own a PSP and have no UMD's then the go is a nice option however if you already have a PSP then the Go isn't for you. No one is forcing you to buy it.

Yeah I agree.I have 13 PSone games that I bought off the PSN store and I would like to play the them while on the go.I never used the UMD drive back when I had a PSP-1000 so he lack of a UMD drive on the PSPGo won't affect me.I also prefer the design and shape of the PSP Go over the PSP Slim, it seems like it'll fit comfortably in my hands and in my pocket.Yeah it is a little expensive compared to the other PSP SKU's but it's not like Sony is dropping the 3000;you don't want to pay $250 for it then don't get it or wait until it drops in price.

Save a game, turn off the psp and be back exactly where you were.
Don't need to carry games with you.
It just looks really good.

These are good reasons, bluetooth should add on $50 or so by itself since that is what it adds on in a laptop.

That is an artificially enhanced list too, his gripes were, games cost too much, need to rebuy old games/accessories, the price of the go is too high, and the screen is slightly smaller.

I would buy a PSPGo, but there's just too many games coming out over the next couple of months of this year and during the first 2 Quarters of 2010 that I want, so I'll probably put my purchase on hold until maybe the end of next Summer.

Most people that already have a PSP probably won't be compelled to buy one, but I don't own a PSP and I'll be getting one eventually. The PSPGo may cost more, but I could see myself paying more for the Go than the Standard PSP simply because it's more portable.

All the PSPGo hate is a little crazy, especially since the Nintendo DSi is $169, and the Wii is now just $30 bucks more, yet I hear no one complaining about it's pricing... if the PSPGo is a so called "rip off", then so is the DSi.

To be fair, that's really stretching it to bash PSPgo. To buy it used from a retail store, it'll cost you $100. If you want the LATEST UMD compatible PSP brand new you will spend at least $150-$200.

another post about the PSP Go. first of all, the screen is smaller by .5 inches. Big deal! second, a second analog cannot be added because this IS NOT, I repeat, IS NOT a newer, better, improved PSP. Its just like a PSP 4000. Except its not called PSP4000. and 4th of all, again. this IS NOT the PSP 2!!!!!! Why the hell would you buy a second PSP if your current PSP is in good condition?! If it's "IS NOT a newer, better, improved PSP" as you say, then why would anyone in their right mind, whether they already own a PSP or not, spend such a huge amount on a PSP go when they can easily get a brand new PSP-3000 for a fraction of the cost? The only thing the GO has going for it is the memory, but who really needs that much memory? The games average a gig or so and there's no way I'd ever plan on playing 1-16 games at the same time. Just get a PSP-3000 with an 8GB card and delete games after you beat 'em. It's not like you can't just re-download them whenever you want.

And if you say you need 16GB for other media as well, music I could see, but who really watches movies on their PSP? Unless it's teenagers who need a handheld porn-player.

Lets switch out the "BETTER IMPROVED SYSTEM". It's like a PSP4000. Except its called a PSP Go and can only play games that you download off of the playstation store. And it is improved. A little. But why do people buy it? Because they want it. BTW, are you bashing at my comment or what? I own a PSP 2000.

If you're totally fine with spending a crazy amount of money on a crippled version of the PSP, then you're more blind than you realize. Let's look at the facts:

It's $250 which is WAY to much for a system that changes very little upon its predecessor than storage capabilities, a microphone, and bluetooth. Without any huge new advancements like a touch screen, camera, or even a 2nd analog stick, the price just isn't justified at all.

The games cost more to download than they do at a store! Granted, I'm talking about used prices, but when you can pay way less for a physical game that has production costs attached to it, there's something wrong there. How can gamers not be pissed off that in some cases, Sony is charging the EXACT SAME PRICE for downloadable games as they are for brand new games in stores!? If you would see how much $$$ the stores pay for the games when compared to how much they sell them fore, you'd poop bricks. I worked at a game store and saw the invoices. In some cases we were only paying $12 - $20 for a game that we'd sell for $60. These were console games and not handhelds, but it gives you an idea of the huge difference involved and you can imagine how much of your hard-earned money Sony execs are just wiping their asses with.

Gaming in general is just taking a turn for the worse. Companies are getting greedy. Instead of cheat codes, now we have to pay REAL MONEY to unlock extra stuff in our games. Instead of new consoles being huge improvements, we just get multiple new versions of the same console each year with different price points to confuse the non-gamers out there aka clueless parents who just know that their kid wants a PS3 for Christmas, but they have no clue what the difference is between an 80GB and a Slim.

It's just crazy how the blinded fanboys are saying that this is all "opinion." No. It's facts. We're all being ripped off and blinded by shiny new candy shells with nothing new in the center, and a majority of us could care less and probably won't do a damn thing about it.

Maybe it is too much money. But the article has some contradictions. On one hand, he talks about it being too expensive, then complains it does not have more features that would add to cost, like touch screen.
