MIG: PSP Go Review

MyInsideGamer Writes:

"Yes folks, I went out and bought a PSP Go on release day. Don't ask about it, I remember waking up and dressing and then I seemed to blank out and I then arrived behind my camera with a PSP Go in front of it making an unboxing video - so I don't even know where I bought it so if it breaks so I'm stuck with it . . ."

Does anyone agree with this review?

I had some money to burn so I went out and got one. I really didn't expect to like it since I already have a psp. To my surprise I like it MUCH more than the original. I really hope Sony lowers the damned price soon so more people can experience it. The only bad things are that it no longer takes MS duo and the battery is non removable. Other than that, if you have the cash go for it.

Yo, how does it handle in your hands. I'm really concerned about the shoulder buttons and the left stick. Could you tell us what game(s) you've played on it and could you compare how the handle was with your old PSP?

Also, what is this "Pause Game feature"? Isnt that just the whole sleep thing on the PSPs in which you just tap up on the power slide instead of holding it up for a complete shutdown or is there a difference???

It handles better than you would think due to the lighter weight. I will have to admit though that the original does feel more comfortable over all. The sholder buttons are very different. For one, it doesn't take much pressure to trigger it. Don't use the existing psp as a reference. I did not expect it to feel the way it does. As far as the analog stick is concerned. It feels much better than the original with greater movement and stiffer control from what I gather. The d pad and right buttons don't stick out as much and have a tighter click feel to them. They feel really nice actually. Also, the buttons over all are smaller which might be bad for people with gorilla hands.

The pause feature is pretty cool. The main difference between using it and sliding the power button into hybernation mode is say you want to go from playing a game to watching a movie, but you want to start the game from where you left off. It's kinda like a save anywhere feature. This will also come in handy for when your battery craps out and you don't want to lose any of your progress. When you activate it it pretty much saves a bluprint of your game and an icon is made under the game category on your psp. Click that and you go right into your saved game.

I'm currently playing pixel junk monsters and GT on it. Both games handle well. My hands are still fine after 2 hours play so that's good. Hope this helps. Like I said before. I love the system, but I feel the price is a little too high. I'm thinking it will come down very fast. I hear it's not selling so well.

EDIT: PSP GO is more comfortable than the DS if that helps.

Just an update - PSPgo game reviews are live on the site!

Nice article, but I think the score is a LITTLE too high . . .

vflhp5707d ago

That's your opinion. I think the score is fair considering all the new and upgraded features.

Got a black Go on launch day and I love it. It has the coolest, sleekest design and it is 1,000 times more comfortable to play with then the old PSP (not only due to it's smaller, lighter size but also the way the buttom configuration is layed out, it feels more like a controller in your hand). On my old PSP my hands and thumb joints would get sore and tired after an hour, but I played for several hours straight on the Go with 100% comfort.

I downloaded several games (Gran Turismo, God of War, Rockband, etc) and it was a breeze to download. The 16gb drive is great, I have tons of space left, even after installing a bunch of my MP3's.

PSP Go is a huge win for people who want the best in mobile gaming technology.

I personally agree that it's a better model than previous models, but a tiny bit overpriced.

Not on the US store right now which sucks

andy851d 7h ago

Im definitely going to import it if possible. Hopefully PlayAsia will have it

jznrpg1d 5h ago (Edited 1d 5h ago )

@andy85 so you can get it from PlayAsia no Tarrifs but shipping is 23$ at least ,but it is an option. A little less than 50$ with shipping. I had to have it

andy851d 5h ago

Coming out at £44 ($60) here. Jeez as much as I want it that's a little bit of a stupid price. Managed to find it for £35 elsewhere. Still crazy for a mug. Might wait and see if the square Enix store get it

Announce the remake already.

Original Ridge Racer arcade classic coming to PlayStation in June

This will be the first time the original 1993 arcade Ridge Racer has appeared on home consoles.

I hear rumors that Evercade may also be getting a Namco Arcade cart with RR and Tekken on it. That would be sweet as their previous Namco Console carts have also recently been updated to work on the VS. Previously, they only had the license to the handheld. so the OG Evercade and the EXP and even the Alpha were supported, but not the VS.

Am i the only one that wants a Ridge Racer Type 4 Remake?
