IGN: TGS 09: Samurai Spirit Sen Hands-on

SNK's Samurai Spirit franchise, known to us in the US of A as Samurai Showdown, has been slowly spilling on to the Xbox 360. The Xbox Live Arcade has seen a couple of classic ports and now Japan is set to get a full retail release in Samurai Spirit Sen, due out before the end of the year. That game is currently on display at Microsoft's booth at the Tokyo Game Show, so Erik popped by to give it a spin and see what all of the fuss was about.

yeah been waiting to see how this game was. Tired of these release day reviews publishers force on some people - I like to know ahead of time.

Anyway, looks like the game isnt too bad.

JasonXE5165d ago

I think they just do that to protect day 1 sales

Blaze9295165d ago

pretty good read. might go pick this up today

JasonXE5165d ago

I think I'll go for Super Street Fighter IV isntead

Blaze9295165d ago

true...plus its $10 cheaper than this. What exactly is new in SSFIV anyway? I played the original.

AridSpider5165d ago

some new fighters, modes, fighting system has been modified, and i think a bunch of other new stuff. Is it worth it if you have/played the original SFIV? That's what I want to find out

Blaze9295165d ago

ahh so I guess it cant just come out as DLC for the original version then huh?

JasonXE5165d ago

I'd guess no because of the new tweaks.

AridSpider5165d ago

yeah I think they already confirmed they can't do that

D+PAD Magazine: Samurai Showdown: Sen Preview

D+PAD Magazine writes:

The original Samurai Showdown (which was released over 16 years ago) was always something of a source of envy for this particular writer. While many of us were enjoying perfectly serviceable versions of Street Fighter II at home on our SNESs and Megadrives, Samurai Showdown and its host platform (the insanely expensive NeoGeo) were always beyond reach; the game was a strange fruit from a far off and exotic land that we would never be able to possess. Obviously, things have changed greatly since that time, with the golden era of arcade gaming long over and with the current crop of consoles more than capable of delivering near photorealistic visuals.
