Really Nvidia? Really? Nvidia claims gamers are somehow being punished because of AMD's aggresive 5870 and DirectX 11 launch. Somehow, we doubt they would be making the same claim if they were first to silicon with DX11 parts...

Nvidia said unified shader architecture had no value when AMD released it first, intimating it was only relevant whrn they released their interpretation. I just do not understand their CEO sometimes.

This by AMD made me lol. And it's true. If Nvidia supported 10.1 we would have seen more 10.1 games. I don't think they're gonna be able to ignore this one however.

Exactly... you can get a ATI Radeon HD 4890 1 GB GDDR5 memory for $250 or so, compared to the NVIDIA GTX 295 for like... $700.

nVidia should know about punishing gamers...ask anybody who held onto a geforce fx if they got to benefit from the programmable shader technology in the games that followed.

AMD has done pretty solid and I'm only hoping that nVidia realizes the punishment it is to plunk $600 on a highend GPU...

What does everyone think of a company that approaches a journalist to offer a list of preferred bullet points for a competitors product? Would you argue against the ethical merits of that? What if TweakTown would have just rolled over and gave them what they wanted for fear of loosing NVIDIA review samples, advertising revenue, whatever?

NVIDIA should be interfacing with the press on the merits of their own product, not the competition. They should compete by making better product, not by coaxing journalists to frame the articles on the competitors product in a way that they find favorable.

Of course Mr. Baxtor was not going to just say, DX11 is pointless because most games are just DX9 ports, because he would have lost all credibility for it in the enthusiast community. That is why this is so ridiculous.

I say you are punishing gamers, Nvidia, with your BSOD errors and disappointing performance. You're just pissed because you get to watch the ass-end of ATI cards again. You get the publicity which gives you a good start each generation, plastering your logo all over everything and now exploiting "PhysX", but that doesn't fool true enthusiasts. Dirt 2's long delay was pretty stupid. All of these chip companies should have really been pushing all of these companies into DX10 so DX11 transitions wouldn't be hard in the first place.

You're mostly right everything nvidia related but probably you haven't played Batman Arkham Asylum in ..3D.. with Physx enabled. Truth be told, Nvidia is pushing technologies here not AMD.

what are you talking about batman for, i have a gtx 280 and play a ton of games with way better physx than batman.

nvidia themselves have said that physx could easily be ported for ati cards that don't have cuda, they aren't liscencing it because they want to have the upper hand, and doing this means that alot of game developers aren't bothering with physx specific effect because half of their customers ( ati card owners) would not be able to take advantage of it, they are limiting the gpu market for their own ends, without the competition from ati nvidia would just do infrequent die shrinks and rebranding of the same cards forever, and they'd still cost the same they did on day 1

i have an nvidia gpu and an intel processor, but i can't wait for the day that ati takes the performance crown (back) and ati overtakes intel, although i'm doubtful that amd ever will with cpus, they can still make their cards more desirable because of the performance/price ratio, and i'm all for buying a gpu processor for a much cheaper price but with only a small performance drop.

PhysX is one of the worst pieces of technology ever. It was a pointless maths co-processor who's entire business plan was to sell out, and nVidia took the bait.

And now, instead of open physics platforms, they're tied into graphics cards. Excellent, well done.
