Bill Gates: 40 million Vista copies sold

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates gave his last keynote at the WinHEC conference earlier this morning and outlined the success of the Windows Vista operating system. He told the audience of programmers and hardware engineers that Vista sales were "beyond our expectations" and outlined some key features of the upcoming Windows Home Server and the renamed Longhorn Windows Server 2008.

PS3 Owns All4177d ago

STILL can't compare to PS2's sales, combine X Box, X Box 360 sales AND Vista sales and STILL can't beat PS2's sales.

Sony's money bag = PS2...not PS3 but PS2.

MS's money bag = OSs (i.e. Windows 98/2000, Server/Adv. Server/2003, XP/Vista). Who beats who?? Who posted MAJOR profit losses recently??

Sony's money bag is not PS2, it always been TVs

I wonder how many of those people would rather have stuck with XP? :)

That's why Dell and other comp distributors started offering it again.
The only way they could get people to accept Vista was to discontinue XP support. The only thing Vista had that customers gave a rats ass about was DX10, something that could have easily been released on XP and wasn't in order to force the switch.

Maybe in a year or so when they've actually done something about the 8 million bugs reported on the system, and actually allow things to work on it. But definitely not until then.

like one

vista destroys XP

by the way i have vista and i just cant go back to my old computer

sonarus4177d ago

i heard most vistas being sold were bundled with computers and then downgraded to xp since vista still struggles with compatibility issues

DirtyRat4177d ago

I wont be buying Vista until there is a really good reason, and at the moment with all the compatability issues its really pointless

shikwan4177d ago

to buy unless you are looking at buying a new PC or have 360 and want to take advantage of the Media Center functionality (that is VERY highly under-rated).

@1: I have the M-Audio Firewire 410 (supposedly the drivers don't work) but it works fine on my Vista Ultimate PC without a hitch. I also use Adobe Audition 1.5 for my editing, etc. No problems there either.
