Haze dev calls for more videogames with mature messages

Recently the developers of the upcoming Haze were very negative toward Halo 3 saying,

"It's about what's happening in the world today - it's ludicrous, and how can you make something that doesn't reflect that? Well, you could bury your head in the sand and make Halo 3, but the fact of the matter is there are more important things at stake."

Basically the game haze is supposed to be somewhat reminiscent of current events, or could be considered "a modern warfare "satire" in standard first-person shooter's clothing", as put it.

this game looks cool and all but,

Its not just aiming at halo 3, but gaming in general, regardless of your stance on halo 3, don't we many times play video games to get away from reality, so we don't have to hear about a bunch of terrible stuff going on?

I mean, ok i want to play this game, but i also want to mostly play stuff like oblivion, or zelda, or shadow of the colossus, maybe Mario, whatever you like thats not based on reality. Don't get me wrong i like war games like this, but its not all i want to play.

But still, we need some from of escape once in a while, don't we?

That is what games are all about. A break from the reality's chains, and of course to have a new experience.

This dev probably just been a parent or such. Why make a fps and then say stuffs like this? My ½ cent worth of an opinion.

I'm expecting a surprise!

My top 3 anticipated shooters of 07 are:

1)Killzone 2

2)Halo 3

I'm gonna be soo happy by the end of this year:)

i agree im kinda getting sick of these fantasy-ish games. im leaning mroe towards realism this gen. maybe haze is that game.

i probably will be a sucker for this game, Halo 3, possibly killzone 2, like Robotz_Rule said.

But still this developer seems to be a little out there. In some ways it's good not all games are based on reality. Why not more war games like Mercs 2? Though that in some ways could be reality based, Its still quite fictionally based, but that can be ok, as long as we don't have to see politics starting to show in video games, whether its pro war, or anti war. If i want to blow something up in a game, i don't want it necessarily reflecting whats happening in the world today. Though the ghost Recon games do make that fun.

Maybe i do want to bury my head in the dirt once in a while and play some fictional games.

But then again for me its kinda half and half for me. I realize though that many people don't want to be confronted with the ills of the world today in their games.
