Are Consoles the future of MMORPGs?

In the last few years the market has seen the launch of a fair (or maybe excessive?) number of PC MMORPGs. Comparatively, the number of actual success stories is close to zero. More or less all of those games either sunk miserably or barely managed to scratch the thick armor of the Lich King.
The console market might be able to offer a much needed breath of fresh air to MMORPG developers...

I don't think they are. My reasoning is that people get into an MMORPG then never buy another game for years because they get so wrapped up in it. That happened to me the City of Heroes and it took almost 2 years for me to break free.

I still think they should bring MMO's to consoles though. The more games the merrier.

That's more or less my reasoning. PC gamers as a stable core base of hardcore players, console gamers for the numbers.

MMO's on consoles have limitations
MMO's on PC don't have have limitations
Like control schemes, large scale maps and huge numbers of players on the same time

basically MMO's are made of open systems (PC), and MMO's may happen on consoles but it wont be as big as MMO's on PC

I'm afraid you're a little behind the times. Nowadays consoles can easily fit more than enough players in the same zone (ever heard of MAG?), and have absolutely no control limitation. Both next gen consoles support keyboards and the PS3 even supports a mouse.
