Remove the Flopbox from the title, thanks

MetalGearRising5486d ago

I don't think ps3 will last till 2011 its barley hanging on by Kaz Hirai G-Strings as it is.

dustgavin5485d ago

You must be confusing the PS3 with the 360.

DVD9
No standard hard drive
seperate wireless add-on
controllers that run off AA batteries.

What a ghetto console!

"And while we haven’t actually seen vast improvements for what potential can come out of the processing power for the PlayStation 3..."

Really? Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavy Rain, Killzone 2 do not exist? Even God of War 3 in its current state is looking incredible. While developers have had a history of issues handling the hardware, the argument of difficult development has become that, history.

The future-proofing argument presented has little merit as well. The 360 has two things keeping it from the future-proofing Sony insured with the PS3: the DVD-9 and lack of an HDD standard. The final product of GTA IV was held back by the lack of both and id's Rage is being heavily compressed and still coming out on 2 discs. As productions become larger, what will developers do when faced by the limitations of the DVD-9?

XNA is a wonderful community where small developers can create a portfolio for themselves and share with each other, but if I recall correctly, the business structure makes it very unlikely to reap a profit. XBLM and PSN have both opened a new kind of market to be found, offering variety and an easier way to penetrate the market, which in a way brings future-proofing.

I do hope this generation will last longer, especially due to the current state of the global economy. All I know is that the 360 will have a harder time due to its media and lack of HDD standard.

Snoogins5486d ago

Did you read the article and process its contents? I encourage you to read it and use your mind to seriously consider the contents, then formulate words into a decent discussion. Fanboyism is not necessary.

PROFIT5485d ago

i really dont think the 360 can keep up with the ps3

i have yet to see a 360 title that has "next gen" all over it.

it seems the ps3 is the only console that keeps delivering next gen software. as we head into next year, the superior hardware in the ps3 will continue to provide us with next gen titles and experiences.

Pizzagaki5485d ago (Edited 5485d ago )

@profit

Well, same for ps3 in my opinion, the only place ive seen Next gen is the PC.
Both the ps3 and 360 are chugging behind in gfx.

PC Fallout3 > ps3/360 Fallout3, same goes for all the multi's.
So dont speak of gfx when it comes to consoles.

A: theres no major difference between what the two consoles do, only fanboy ranting.
B: both consoles get owned by PC versions.

PROFIT5485d ago (Edited 5485d ago )

uncharted 2 is right around the corner, and its set to double the benchmark the ps3 set. 360 and its dvd/xenos/(enter cpu revision here) drive have no answer for the ps3.

THERE is no title on the 360 that touches uncharted.

I remember near the ps3 launch, when the gpu comparison charts were brought up @ gametrailers forum......all the fanboys went apeshit.
LOL. back then the 360 fanboys said the 360 had the upper hand....and those charts backed it up. Not only that, but the multiplats backed it up as well. All that has gone down the drain now

Every playstation ive owned has started off slow. then what happens? history is repeating itself wether you like it or not. Microsoft had the upper hand for a lil bit, but the hw gods have brought a product to the table that completely eclipses the 360s shine. Maybe the price was steep for some in the beginning, but now its at a price you cant complain about.
Y?
becuz out of the box it offers much much more in terms of features and reliability.

the game is changing. Ps3 is taking us to next gen, while ms asks you to pay for twitter.

Im not gonna further eradicate your post, but trust me i can.

rockleex5485d ago (Edited 5485d ago )

That potential has already been proven.

Uncharted came out in 2007.
Gears 2 came out in 2008.

Uncharted is the first attempt Naughty Dog had on the PS3.
Gears 2 is a sequel to a 360 game.

Why is it that Uncharted still comes out on top? Even when compared by a 360 fanboy himself.

Game over @ TGS 3 games ant enough my Sony friends when you see it you wont believe it, its the way things have changed GpGPU/cpu X-engine is the future cant be done on ps3, uncharted 2 and gow3 will still be good games tho:)

Sitdown5485d ago

Haha...you do realize that statement was a compliment to Sony, and not a reason for you to go into defense mode right?

It sounds like they are saying that no game so far has really shown the potential of the ps3; that's a biiiiiig compliment considering the titles that we have already seen.

ThanatosDMC5485d ago (Edited 5485d ago )

Geez, beyond me why the 360 was included on the PS3's slogan of being "future proof". If you cant beat them, join them... i guess???

Snoogins5485d ago

I first caught wind of it when reading someone's speculation Splinter Cell was going to be ported to it. If the X-Engine is Microsoft's in-house engine that is going to push the console, I cannot wait to see it. Still, just think how much more powerful the system could be if developers were allowed to develop games that require an HDD (not just MMOs) and won't have to worry about the inevitable ceiling of the DVD-9.

Lost Odyssey Is Still One Of The Best Xbox RPGs Ever

17 years later, it still stands out.

shinoff2183223d ago

I liked blue dragon more. Lost odyssey is the shit though.

jznrpg223d ago

Two of the few games I still own for Xbox360 . I have Magna Carta 2 , Last Remnant but also have the PS4 version so I may have got rid of it and I have the DS version of Blue Dragon. I think and a few others but I forget what they are since I don’t dust them off. that’s about it.

shinoff2183222d ago (Edited 222d ago )

Another one I still havent got to try is infinite undiscovery. I read it was pretty linear but I usually fk with tri ace(star oceans are great).

Really my only issue with lost odyssey was the level cap they hit you with throughout the game. I enjoy just relaxing and doing some grinding every once in awhile. Could've atleast given the option. Other then that. Excellent game.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The 360 imo had atleast half or more that Gen of being the better jrpg system. I bought one earlier then I normally would have for some, and Alan wake. Japanese devs really got in their feelings that Gen and dropped the ball(thanks Phil phish, cocky ass ign, etc)

darthv72222d ago

You'd be better off playing Lost Odyssey on an XBO or Series X as no disc swapping and it looks and plays much better. Same with Blue Dragon. I still keep my 360 hooked up for games not on the bc list. for everything else, I use the series x now. Just last night I installed arkham origins as there is no 8th gen version like asylum/city.

I love having bc on xbox one/series hardware.

shinoff2183222d ago

Darth

When I bought the the Xbox one off a couple worker. That was the first thing indid. Bought blue dragon and lost odyssey. Been waiting to catch infinite undiscovery on sale but I forget to check.

I used to own the 360 versions but I bought these digital. I'd like to track down the 360 ones again but no huge deal. I was actually playing through lost odyssey waiting for starfield to drop.

RaidenBlack222d ago

Is Lost Odyssey coming to PS, too?

cthulhucultist223d ago

The game was indeed amazing. Great characters, gameplay and story!

But the dream sequences penned by Shigematsu were sublime.

I still remember many of these stories and I have integrated in the past in my D&D campaign many years ago.

RpgSama223d ago

I'm not going to lie, I cried on more than on a couple of them

Dabigsiebowski223d ago

Microsoft should have just kept pumping money into these guys. Same with a lot of the other studios... the blundered hard.

Lost Odysee deserved a franchise even though development wasn't smooth

Michiel1989223d ago

Am I the only one who doesn't wanna see every good game get sequel after sequel? It was a great game, but sometimes it's better to just make a one off and then create a new universe. Sadly that costs a lot more money and publishers don't wanna risk it, but I would definitely prefer it

shinoff2183222d ago

I'm fine with sequels in jrpgs, even in the vain of ff sequels, all new stories and characters. It does get old in other genres though sometimes. For the most part I just game by game basis it all.

FinalFantasyFanatic222d ago

They could have done it like Final Fantasy, kept the title name and just start with a new world/characters, it's not like the creator isn't familar with that.

Concertoine222d ago

Idk, Japan never bit for Xbox despite their best efforts around this era. Mistwalker never exploded either, despite future partnerships with Nintendo whichhad a much better chance at success

BrainSyphoned223d ago

It's not like it has had any competition since 2007. Would really like to own the short stories from it in book form.

PapaBop222d ago

360 had some amazing JRPGs in it's early days, Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vesperia off the top of my head were all amazing games.

jznrpg223d ago (Edited 223d ago )

The problem with most MS games on 360 was they didn’t make the games they paid for them and that makes you less money in the long run and isn’t something you can continue to do especially with declining sales of consoles. MS should have been starting and growing studios from the beginning but they went for paid games and it leaves them without the knowledge and culture of making games.

shinoff2183222d ago

Good points. Never thought of that like that back then.

Sgt_Slaughter222d ago

Not to mention killing the Japanese market that had all sorts of crazy and fun releases up until 2009-2010. They could have gained momentum on Nintendo and kept that going into the Xbox One era, but decided to "unify" efforts and that all but ended their presents in the country. Now, PS4's outsell the Xbox Series S three years into the new system's life cycle, and the 2/3DS at one point was doing the same.

Ranking Every Halo Game From Worst To Best

Not every Halo game has been a banger, but the franchise still has a raft of the greatest games of all time.

Infinite is a dumpster fire and as much as I like ODST, in no universe it ranks above Halo 2. This list is trash.

Kaii258d ago

Just exclude Infinite>5>4

ChasterMies258d ago

Best to worst: Halo 3, Halo 2, Halo Reach, Halo CE, Halo 4, Halo ODST, Halo Infinite, Halo 5.

The 7 Best Xbox 360 Games - Console Exclusives Win the Day

The Xbox 360 was a fantastic console in its day with some truly classic titles, but what are the seven best games for the console?

DrDoomer296d ago

I'm pretty used to these lists being bad, but this one is particularly s#ite.

raWfodog296d ago

I think Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon should have been added to the list.

BrainSyphoned296d ago

I'll go with,
Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Culdcept Saga, Shadow Complex, Ace Combat 6 with the flight stick,A Kingdom for Keflings, A World of Keflings.
Bonus Kinect Games: Happy Action Theater and Sesame Street.
*Skyrim was so bad on PS3 that it almost deserves to be #1*

Husker42c296d ago

I really loved Shadow Complex.

P_Bomb296d ago

Ah yes, Shadow Complex! Good indies back in the day. Summer of Arcade. I enjoyed Trials Evolution as well.

ChasterMies296d ago (Edited 296d ago )

Was this made by a.i.? No human being would put Shadowrun, Fable III, and Splinter Cell: Conviction into a list of the 7 best Xbox 360 games.

Abnor_Mal296d ago (Edited 296d ago )

Would love to play Ace Combat6 on PlayStation, but Xbox decided to buy exclusivity and keep it off a competing platform.

The only mainline game I never played except for one level at a friends place. Game sold less than any other in the series if I remember correctly.

darthv72295d ago

360 had Namco hitters AC6 and RR6... both quality titles. You should at least bust out the 360 for AC6 if you can score the flight stick. Its great.

Hofstaderman296d ago

When the current gen XBOX offering is so lacking people need to refer to games released two generations back....

Profchaos295d ago (Edited 295d ago )

It's a nostalgia peice same reason we get thousands of YouTube videos on sega genisis. Something people have fond memories for but the era is long gone.

It's xboxs golden year imo it was their genisis years the time where they stuck it to the market leaders Sony.

BehindTheRows295d ago

They stuck nothing. Sony screwed themselves giving Xbox an opening. They would have gotten the usual smack down if the PS3 had launched at $399 and was easier to develop for.
