PSM3 reviews Uncharted 2 : 21/20

The latest edition of the french PSM3 magazine has published the review of the highly anticipated PS3 exclusive Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Below will find a scan of the rating the magazine has attributed to the title.

and I love it. They're going to get slammed by certain sites/podcasts, but this game has done nothing but impress everyone at every show, convention, or whatever.

Any gamer will get revoked that label if he/she doesnt play this game. It doesnt matter if you buy a PS3, or use your buddie's but nobody can miss out.

With resources, dedication and the right hardware every PS3 exclusive game is proving to be genre defining, UC2 is topping any expectation but behind come R&C:ACiT, GT5, MAG and later the Godly Kratos.

That might be jumping the gun a bit, Eurogamer did give the original Uncharted a 9. Sure they can't ever be forgiven for giving MGS4 an 8 but at least someone there knows a phenomenal game when they play one.

I'm playing the beta right now, and well may I just say... I'd let ND have me if they wanted. All of them. At once.

Yes, this game is 21/20. It is one of the finest gaming experiences of my life and I've only played it for an hour, as a beta version. No doubt this game trounces all other console games visually, it even comes close to Crysis level at times (despite the obvious differences of a vast open-world simulation and a focused, linear, small-scale environment). It boggles the mind how ND have squeezed this much beauty out of this machine. There's nothing that I can see that could possibly deny this it's rightful place as game of the year.

I knew U2 was infectious, but this? Never saw this coming. I'm trying really hard not to over-hype the game, but I think I'm losing the battle.

There might be a couple more, but this is all I remember. Soul Calibur came out in 1999. I'm assuming this decade means: 2000-2009. Otherwise, I would have included it.

EDIT: For now, could a mod just add a 10/10 for the score. It'd be awesome if you could add it as 21/20, but at least get it documented.

I'm seeing a trend with PS3 exclusives!

IGN said they wanted to give MGS4 an 11: "Is it possible to give a game an 11? If so, this would be the game that would merit that score."

And now Uncharted 2 gets a score higher than "perfection"! What exactly does 21/20 mean? Other-worldly? So good one could only dream of such an amazing game? So incredible that our tiny human minds can't comprehend it's awesomeness? I can't fvcking wait for this masterpiece!

Wow, it's going to be an incredible game for sure. If it is as good as I think it will be I don't know how it wouldn't get game of the year. The first Uncharted was, in my opinion, the best game to come out that year and I think it was a little under-appreciated (even though it did receive a quite favorable critical reception). I really hope this one gets the full recognition that it will almost certainly deserve.

Actually, this has everything to do with the PS3! If the PS3 didn't exist, ND would be working on the 360 which can't even run U2. U2 would look like Gears of War and would be 5 hours long due to the DVD9 space limitations. Without the PS3 U2 wouldn't even be close to as good as it is now. You make it sound as if the PS3 is just an empty box and ND filled it.

U2 not only maxed out the PS3 but also the rating system. U2, it only does everything.

@rareairtone. Yes but without the PS3 hardware ND wouldn't have the resources to make U2. Its as much a victory for the PS3 as well as for ND.

I'm not making the comment in context of the xbox 360 or other consoles. I know the 360 can't render this game. In this world of talented people, even if Sony didn't exist, there would still be a console on which Naughty Dog could develop Uncharted. Maybe it would be later than now if it wasn't for sony, or even sooner. However, given our timeline, it would be anachronistic and not very smart for anybody to have released a console of the ps3's power in like 2003.

Like I said, the PS3 takes part in the victory, but I wouldn't make it 50/50 or like some people are saying; the victory alternates between the 2 as 100%

Just because the container overflows doesn't mean there's any less of whatever you're trying to fill it with.

Why should they judge Uncharted 2 on a different scale than they judge other games? They think Uncharted 2 is better than games they awarded a 10 to... they're not going to change the scale for one game (actually, two if you count GTA:SA)

Basically, it's not efficient for them to get a new container, so we'll just have to put up with the overflow from Uncharted 2.

They won't mark down any points for previous games because those games were judged by the old rating system.

Uncharted 2's 21/20 will now become the new 20/20 for PSM3. Confused?

PSM3 have given Uncharted 2 a 21/20 to display how it has raised the stakes in what a video game can offer.

PSM3's numerical rating system will remain 20/20. But there will be a new definition for what 20/20 is. It will be judged by what Uncharted 2 was able to deliver.

That's what 21/20 means for PSM3. A new definition for "20/20."
