Ratchet & Clank Confirmed for 720p at 60FPS, Harder Difficulty

Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time is a perfect example of resolution not representing everything. Staying at 720p like the previous Ratchet & Clank title, Insomniac is about to prove that games can still look amazing at this resolution.

I never cared about the display resolution when I got any Ratchet & Clank game. The last PS3 game rocked and it was also locked in at 720p and 60 FPS. The series is one of excellence and one that consistently delivers in every respect. Insomniac is an established studio that delivers just about every time. It's a good time to be a Sony owner.

It shows that Sony and their developers are willing to push their games into the HD era without comprimising. I know some can't tell the difference but in the end, it is a nice point to make that these davs are making the most of the code and hardware.

That's a bad decision in my opinion.
Not the resolution, but the number of frames per second.

You guys do know that if the FPS is cut in half, then the number of polygons available on-screen can be doubled. The game can easily look like Toy Story 2 in terms of visuals if the game runs at 30FPS, which is decent in my opinion.

Actually, Ratchet games has been 60fps since the PS2. Making it 30fps is a step backwards for it's kind of gameplay.

And honestly, R&C ACIT even though it's 60fps still has textures, animations, effects, and everything looks better than Resistance 2 @30fps IMO

30 FPS seems pretty smooth to me. Killzone 2 is pretty smooth as well, and despite a few hiccups, the game maintains that frame rate. As long as R&C maintains 30FPS, it will appear very smooth. And the game isn't as demanding of hardware as KZ2, so I'm just saying. CGI quality graphics are very possible on the PS3 if the power is correctly leveraged. Fans of the game are pointing out slight graphical upgrades in this iteration over last like more shadowing and better lighting, but overall the game hasn't seen a major leap in visuals.

Locked 30fps can be smooth. But seriously you have to play a 60fps game like R&C future, then go play a 30fps game. You'll immediately see the difference.

I was disappointed when Resistance 2 was announced to be 720p by Ted Price.

60fps is also the reason why COD4 is so popular. It just feels right.

That being said, I don't mind 30fps either I guess as long as it's Locked.

Actually, knowing Insomniac they're probably using 1280x704 like Resistance 1, R&C Future, and Resistance 2. Not that it's a bad thing, but they've found at that resolution "just works better" with the PS3.

firstly microsoft have recently asked developers to not try to push for a higher resolution which is understandable as the 360 is quite old tech,maybe their reasoning for this is it will cut down on the number of dvds needed as games get more complex

secondly YOU wouldnt see 1080p games at 60fps because you havnt a ps3 but i have and games like wipeout,gt prologue not to mention upcoming titles like gt 5 for certain and i believe gow 3? are indeed that, you really need to stop being a fanboy because your no good at it, i suggest get an education

You've never played Ridge Racer 7? Wasn't it a launch title? Wipeout HD is able to achieve that performance as well. Either way, R&C is one hell of a good looking game with some ridiculously high res textures.

I don't know who would be disappointed in 720p when developers are having a hard time trying to reach that resolution. Maybe these guys should help Infinity Ward out, they're having trouble getting 60fps AND 720p.
