Wolfenstein Fails In Its Sales Quest

Gaming Union writes: "In mid-August, Raven Software designer Manveer Heir stated that if the new next-gen Wolfenstein title outsold Madden NFL 10 during August, he would reimburse everyone who had kept their receipt and had bought the game before the end of the month.

It is now September, and it has became obvious that they could not reach their lofty goal, with the game not even appearing on the Top 10 list in August's NPD Group results. It is likely that this drove more sales of the game than it would have without it --- however, this isn't something that we should hope to see other developers and publisher try to do in the future."

It's just not a great game. I enjoyed it for a once through but the MP is a bit lame. It was nice to get it BB when they had the ten dollar gift card with it. I got the game new for less than 29 bucks. The PC versin looks great too IMHO.

I've played it and yes it's fun but it gets old fast. And i'm a RTCW & W:ET fan.

It's not a bad game at all so *shrug*. Weapons were awesome the character progression was okay, veil crap added some extra depth albeit prolonged but I had fun, cheap hooker.

I own it and besides the graphics not being overly impressive(although nothing to complain about) the gameplay is very good. The controls are some of the best, as id are know for, and the great missions, side missions and weapons upgrades etc makes it hard to put down the controller.

But sh*t, I bought the game and I knew it wouldn't really outself Madden 10. I knew this, because sports-heavy idiots will ALWAYS buy the same game every damn year with little to no improvements. New age gamers will buy Madden and The Beatles: Rock Band without even stressing a brain cell.

I am surprised many people took this gag serious, like this was some real serious marketing campaign. These guys knew there is no way in hell their game was going to sell more than Madden. I thought it was kind of a funny proposal, and give them props for it.

it's sad for I.D, but seeing as they're using a souped up 5 year old engine, and the game god O.K reviews ( not good reviews) it's hard to spend $99aus on it

I played the game and I like it a lot. I don't have a problem with the graphics, they are good -- although not excellent -- and the controls are tight. The game shines in its single player campaign, which is funny and nicely paced. There are several well designed levels, interesting bosses, a good amount of updates to be chosen -- you don't have resources to buy all of them -- and several characters to interact.

The problem with the game is that the online is not catchy. I don't care much as I don't enjoy playing FPS shooting, but this seems to be a major issue with most customers nowadays.

WOLFENSTEIN wasn't bad at all, I reckon. It looked okay, was satisfying to play and most of all, was fun. It just didn't have the 'umph' to outshine the really good stuff released at the same time.
