IncGamers' John Robertson checks out Paradox's latest World War II grand strategy title.
From the article: "Hearts of Iron III (HoI3) is not a game for the 'casual gamer'. In fact, it's not a game for the average gamer. This is a title developed solely for the hardcore strategy fan: the kind of person who derives significant pleasure from spending a couple of hours deciding on which front the invasion of France should begin, and how they're going to make sure that any troops they send are going to be adequately fed, watered and reinforced. "
GameGrin's Alex Hamilton writes: "There wasn’t much I could do to save Poland. To be honest there wasn’t much I wanted to do to save Poland. There was simply no way of me getting there in time to stop the German invasion. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself as I watch the ever-growing cloud of dust across the border."
There are certain inalienable truths in this world: music will get worse as you get older, politicians will lie all the time and Hitler will always invade Poland.
Continue Play's Noah Ellis suggests 5 games focusing on one of the lesser known areas of the Second World War, the vast Eastern Front.
I hate these games.
Not because they're bad, or anything - they just sound incredibly interesting and exactly like what I'm into, but I can never get past the interface, which means that each one is a crushing disappointment. It looks great, but I *can't play it* because I'm *thick*.
"This is a title developed solely for the hardcore strategy fan"
Oh yeah! :D
You'll need a lot of time to play this game! However it sounds totally awesome!
I actually think it looks excellent, I've been swayed!
I love games like this especially total war series and superpowers thank god companies still care about the hardcore and don't just make endless FPS.
