After almost 11,000 votes in our Firmware 3.0 polls, PS3 owners have let us know what features they like and dislike in the console's latest update.
Announced at GamesCom in Cologne, Germany, the PlayStation 3's Firmware 3.0 was to be the last major firmware update for Sony's console this year.
Launching alongside their recently announced PS3 Slim, the firmware was meant to provide a new face to the console's Cross Media Bar (XMB).
However, though the list of functional and aesthetic updates were substantial, some changes came as an unpleasant surprise, resulting in a backlash on Sony's Official PlayStation Blog and other gaming forums. Comments on Sony's blog were eventually disabled.
As a result, we felt that it would not only be interesting but also an important service to ask for your opinions on the PS3's Firmware 3.0, with two multiple choice polls: one asking what you like and the other what you dislike. The results would then be sent on to Sony Computer Entertainment.
The response, to put it lightly, took us by surprise, with over 8,000 votes in the first 24 hours and almost 11,000 votes total. Repeat voters were blocked, but a possible selection of up to 10 options were provided on each poll.
