Aggressive marketing and gaming. Where can a line be drawn?

This generation the console war has become expecially heated, and that gave way to an extremely aggressive kind of marketing, with console makers spending millions to juice every little drop of exclusive content out of third party developers to gain a degree of advantage on the competition.

But where can a line be drawn between aggressive, but legitimate marketing and intentionally damaging gamers that happened to chose the competition?

MS does a LOT of false advertising. I think companies shouldn't do that. Then again the consumer should do some research before purchasing stuff.

Halo 3's marketing budget was more than game development. That's just sad, I'd rather they had used the money to make the game better.
