Sony Shows Future Home Developments

Want to play podcasts off a virtual audio player, download demos directly from PlayStation Store, and communicate with a virtual pet from the comfort of your personal space in PlayStation Home? You may get that chance!

During a lecture at Japan's CESA Developers Conference (CEDEC) yesterday, Sony Computer Entertainment's Masami Kando provided a glimpse at what's on the way for the service.

Home is becoming more interesting by the minute.

Wonder which one will be more popular PlayStation Home or Free Realm?

WildArmed5339d ago

I think Home n Free Realem really cant be compared.

Home -> Second life
Free Realems -> world of warcraft.

they have different categories.
but if it was a competition, i put my money on free realems. since it does every what home does + MMO/grinding aspect.

And yes Home seems to be getting interesting.. but still not enough to get me to login. The new updates seems promising. universal game launching is something that might get me into home. Other stuff like synced-video playing across player seems to be a cool feature too

karan86245339d ago

WHY ARE THEY WASTING TIME ON HOME?!?? Nobody gives a damn about it, and only idiots pay for the stuff. How about you spend this time getting us cross-game chat, new avatars, some free dynamic themes or something that we actually want

HDgamer5339d ago

1 million in sales on home items and 8 million users disagree with you. Cross game chat really isn't that important.

freeblue5339d ago

yeah.. and watching movies with friends, have trophy case in your home, walking a batcave/ironman hideout full with 3D trohpies you that won. customerize your room with your pictures... how about your implemented those first, SONY, before tease me with more "soon to come in future" features???

WildArmed5339d ago

alot of people care about home.
and just maybe just as much as x-game voice chat.

Plus, Its not like Home's team will work on those features. they have a seperate team for that. Sony employs lots of people to do lots of things. Lets not beg every single team they employ to do something they obviously don't have the qualification for.

Oh possibilities! Your such a tease!

Kamikaze1355339d ago (Edited 5339d ago )

One of the Home devs mentioned that pets would come to Home, so it's guaranteed. I just hope it's sooner rather than later. I wonder if it'll be part of that huge 1.3 update coming this month =)

Sony Shows THE Future OF GAMING Entertainment.

billbox20105339d ago (Edited 5339d ago )

jesus cristh...Home is HUGE disappointment.

home is full of pedhophiles and fakes of girls.

sony please stop this sh*t of home.

WildArmed5339d ago

so is Xbox Live, and Wii or w/e they call it on the Wii.

Its a problem of the society, it has nothing to do with any console. Get over it.

frnkyl5339d ago

Are you sure you're not talking about YOUR "Home" ?

ThatCanadianGuy5339d ago

Just let me buy a freakin pool table..
i don't care if it's $4.99 i'm tired of waiting at the tables for people who never get off.

callahan095339d ago

That is a GREAT idea. They absolutely SHOULD let us buy the games they offer. I would pay money for a pool table, chess board, and bowling alley in my private mountainside villa! (and maybe some of the arcade games, too)

ThatCanadianGuy5339d ago

EXACTLY! i have that lake side apartment thing & i just stand on the deck, imagining how great it would be if i could just put a damn pool table there!

Why they haven't thought of selling those games yet makes no sense to me.

And the Streaming Video/Audio would be great too.Without those three features there really is no reason to hang out at your place with friends. It's just boring..

Redempteur5339d ago

i have to agree .
buying pool table would be a nice addition.

I wish more game like namco museum would come ( and to the eur home too )

The pool tables will be updates with new rules in the 1.3 updates by the way it seems .
More table ( or an separate arcade zone for bowling and another for pool would be great ...like how EA sport complex did )

MONOLITHICIDE5339d ago

Canandianguy awesome idea but then people would buy it for their home and then not goto the bowling alley to play with people and communicate cause isnt that what sony really wants home to do(and create money like its been doing, a gaming community but the pool table would be awesome. Also im sick of reading that homes a failure, really cause if im not mistaken i go on the almost everyday now especially to the home theatre that place is awesome now and see lots of people in there even like at 4 in the morning for me at least, if u guys havent been to the theatre lately go its awesome.

Real Gambler5339d ago

Not keen on paying for stuff myself, but I love what Namco did with their Museum game. Try the demo and it does unlock some arcade cabinet for your Home space. They look neat and sure enough, if you buy the full game, you get the full game in your Home as well.

So, I Finally Played Home

I recently published an article about beating my Steam backlog by getting organised and the first game I’ve completed with this new approach is Home.

I chose Home not because of its production values or reviews, but because, well, it’s short. I needed a game to start my new approach on the right foot and read that Home takes less than two hours to beat.

Whatever my reasons for finally installing Home, I found it to be an enjoyable yet flawed title.
